Position Summary | The position of Assistant Director has the primary responsibility for the development, implementation, and assessment of student leadership and engagement initiatives within the residence life program. The Assistant Director will be responsible for providing leadership and promoting student leadership and engagement that will enhance the mission of the institution. The position includes:

Minimum Qualifications | • Master’s degree in College Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration, Counseling or other related field.• Three or more years of professional experience working in a college or university housing and residence life department required. • Skills in program development, organizing and planning. • Training or experience in leadership development, supervision, program planning and evaluation. • Strong problem-solving skills in the context of interpersonal and group relations, strong analytical skills, and strong oral communication skills. • Ability to work effectively on a team. • Scheduling flexibility to meet residents’ needs. • Must pass a criminal background check. |
Preferred Qualifications | • Experience in areas of staff supervision, housing leadership, learning communities, student success initiatives, leadership training, and the ability to work within a collaborative environment and with diverse populations. • Four or more years of professional experience working in a college or university housing and residence life department required. • Experience supervising a full-time professional(s). • Experience working with effective practices addressing student success and retention. • Detail orientated and able to assess needs, plan, and implement new programs. • Budget experience. |

Total Compensation Range & Benefits Statement | Salary is dependent on several factors, and new employees will typically start around the Q1 level to allow for later growth within the salary band. PSU has a structured process for determining starting compensation, taking into account years of related experience, applicable skills, knowledge and abilities, market parity, and internal equity. The starting annual salary for this position will be between $59,556 and $68,952, but may be negotiated above this range, dependent upon the factors above, the budget of the hiring department, and approval from HR.
