Role description:

In this position, you will oversee operations for the Georgia Mobility Management group which includes traffic/ITS engineering design and analysis and traffic operations. As the Georgia Department Leader, you will work with regional and national management to develop and achieve local performance targets including project financials, individual staff growth, and revenue growth. Candidates will also assist project specific pursuit leaders with developing pursuit strategy and improving client relationships.

This is a hybrid positions assigned to our Atlanta, GA office. Candidates will have the ability to work a hybrid schedule but will be required to attend internal and external client meetings in person as needed.

Role accountabilities:


  • Operations: Work with regional and national management to develop and achieve operational performance goals and adhere to standards related to the Arcadis Way of Project Management. This will include providing regular oversight of project financials for project managers in your team, monitoring team financial billability, workload and project pipeline forecasting, and quality assurance program oversight. Additionally, you will coordinate with Department Leaders from other states across the organization to balance resources and share technical knowledge to assist in overall organizational growth.
  • Growth: Coordinate with account leaders, other department leaders, and regional management to identify and position future opportunities. This includes maintaining client relationships across a variety of clients and identification of additional resources to meet future project needs.
  • Project Delivery: Collaborate with project managers and production team to define schedules and methodologies for complex engineering projects including those for public and private sector clients. Additionally, directly and indirectly oversee technical execution of complex projects including engineering analysis, design, and operations.
  • Project Management: Serve as Project or Program Manager for regional significant projects.
  • Staff Management and Recruiting: This position will include direct management responsibilities of up to 8 staff members. This includes the planning of short and long-term goals and monitoring of workload for assign staff. Additionally, you will lead our recruiting effort and have indirect management of a group of more than 30 staff members.
  • Internal Campaigns/Initiatives: Assist/champion internal initiatives including those related to staff growth, strategic positioning, office operations, and global strategy.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
  • 20+ years of relevant, post degree work experience in traffic engineering analysis, design, and/or operations.
  • 10+ years of management experience including project manage, resource management, and team development
  • Prior experience working with various clients including state DOTs, local agencies, and/or private sector clients
  • Experience leading major projects or contracts for public clients
  • PE in a US-based jurisdiction with the ability to obtain your PE in Georgia within six months of hire.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must possess a US Driver's license

Preferred Skills and Proficiencies:

  • Experience working with Georgia Department of Transportation and local agencies in Georgia
  • Possess a Georgia PE license
  • Experience working across a variety of traffic/ITS engineering tasks including design, analysis, and/or operations
  • Experience managing internal budgets and developing group/team strategy
  • Attention to detail is critical in the success of this position
  • Ability to work well in groups as well as independently

We offer nine paid holidays and 20 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $145000 - $190000.
