The Sr. Compliance Specialist is an individual contributor reporting to the VP, Global Compliance Investigations, Governance, and Reporting. In this newly created position, the Sr. Specialist will support the Office of Ethics and Compliance project management and reporting strategy, and build, support, and maintain governance structures and processes to help ensure the OEC delivers on its strategic priorities.

This position closely collaborates with OEC leadership, legal operations, and functional partners (e.g. finance, HR, IT) to support execution of the long-term vision, strategy, and design of the OEC; facilitates the monitoring and reporting on key OEC priorities; collaborates with business partners to implement, monitor and report on annual goals and budget targets; and enables the OEC to demonstrate the effectiveness of the Medtronic Ethics and Compliance program to key internal and external stakeholders.

The ideal candidate for this role should be able to work independently, be creative, and be comfortable working in a dynamic environment. We are seeking someone with experience working in SmartSheet, Power BI, and/or other program management and data analytics software.

A Day in the Life

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

The Senior Compliance Specialist provides expertise and a broad range of project management and governance support for the OEC. Key responsibilities include:


  • Collaborate with OEC governance leads and relevant internal stakeholders (e.g., IT) to develop and implement centralized data management tools/systems that support the effective management of OEC activities (e.g. budget and expense tracking, quarterly internal reporting obligations, global KPI development and tracking);
  • Actively support administration of governance and oversight committee structures, schedules, agendas and reporting;
  • Support the development, execution, and tracking of annual and long-term plans that address ongoing strategic compliance programs and initiatives;
  • Monitor OEC activities and performance against goals, targets and initiatives. Establish and provide routine and ad-hoc metrics and reporting to leadership;
  • Support OEC leadership and other key stakeholders in responding to assessments that relate to Medtronic's compliance program activities, goals, targets, priorities and initiatives. Assess and present outcomes from external assessments and other reviews (e.g. World's Most Ethical Companies) to OEC leadership with recommendations on prioritization, risk and remediation to address findings;
  • Understand the current governance and reporting processes and tools, identify gaps or areas of expansion and opportunity and propose, develop, and implement improvements.
  • Monitor external, internal, and peer industry trends and changes relating to compliance program reporting and effectiveness;
  • Lead by example to model a culture of ethics and integrity; exercise sound judgment and courage as a trusted advisor to the team.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements


  • Bachelor's degree with 4+ years of project and/or program management experience and reporting technology expertise (e.g. SmartSheet, MS Lists, Planner and Teams, PowerBI); or 2+ years with an advanced degree

  • Expertise supporting complex projects in a highly matrixed organization
  • Experience supporting ethics and compliance initiatives within a large organization
  • Experience in developing standardized processes for managing and tracking strategic priorities and program governance activities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and initiatives simultaneously with demonstrated experience influencing action through others
  • Strong analytical risk identification, evaluation, and response skills
  • Demonstrated experience building positive relationships and working collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders, including with employees, senior management, external parties/authorities and customers

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
