Communications Manager (Innovation Center Host)

The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
The person hired for the position of Communications Manager (Innovation Center Host) will be an ambassador of 3M in all areas of the company, exemplifying human resources principles and leadership attributes.  They will give a voice to 3M’s process of innovation by connecting our history, product/application development, and corporate strategy to current events and business issues.  They will partner with 3M divisions and departments to create a customized experience for their visitors. They will develop and demonstrate a working knowledge of 3M’s technologies and how we have applied those technologies in developing solutions for our customers. They will manage all details associated with their assigned customer events at the Innovation Center.  They will maintain the attitude and composure of a host that is showcasing the 3M environment while keeping the needs of guests in mind.

As an Innovation Center Host, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

• Developing/engaging with a network of subject matter experts in all disciplines across the company


• Being aware of new 3M product or market developments


• Organizing and facilitating all details related to customer events at the 3M Innovation Center


• Demonstrating a working knowledge of 3M technology platforms and demonstrations, as well as how they connect to each other


• Initiating, developing, and managing special projects


• Having a willingness to be on-call

Your Skills and Expertise 
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start)


• Seven (7) years of 3M employment experience

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

• Experience working with internal and external customers


• Knowledge of 3M products, services, technologies, structure, policies, and strategies


• Superior written and verbal communication


• Capable of explaining technical ideas in common language


• Outstanding public speaking skills

Work location:

• 3M Center Campus (Maplewood, MN)

Travel: May include up to 5% domestic

Relocation Assistance: May be authorized

Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).
