Job Summary

The Maintenance H2S (Hydrogen to Sulfite) Technician is responsible for servicing and maintaining all company owned gas detection, radios, emergency lighting, and air moving equipment. Daily tasks include calibrating, cleaning, repairing, set-up/ install, teardown, and accurate documentation of work associated equipment for all Murphy Oil Corporation's US Onshore production facilities. The Maintenance H2S Technician will need to ensure that these activities are done safely, meet regulatory deadlines and requirements, follow approved procedures, and are cost effective.

The Maintenance H2S Technician is expected to help drive both safety and maintain cost control by helping to build a culture based on "management by exception". This will require excellent verbal and written skills to facilitate communication of decisions and setting the desired direction of the Maintenance program. To succeed, the Maintenance H2S Technician will need to have strong interpersonal skills to interface and influence other organizations both in the field and Houston offices.

Responsibilities


  • Perform work in compliance with plant safe work practices
  • Performs maintenance, repair, cleaning, and sensor change-outs on various types of equipment including fixed and portable gas monitoring systems, emergency lighting, and air movement/ ventilation equipment. Returns monitoring equipment to active status within established time
  • Performs calibration procedures on portable and fixed gas monitors
  • Perform work with minimum supervision from written or verbal work orders
  • Perform housekeeping to maintain clean, neat and safe standards
  • Establishing a continuous improvement culture that challenges normal operations on a daily basis
  • Supports the implementation of SAP throughout all aspects of operations
  • Coordinates all major repair activity using SAP
  • Responsible for providing accurate work completion data using SAP
  • Ensures that critical spare list is evergreen, and that Procurement is maintaining the required inventory
  • Maintain development and execution of preventative maintenance schedules in SAP on applicable equipment
  • Follows KPl's around work order generation, tracking of progress and final closeout to measure performance
  • Contribute to Root Cause Analysis
  • Ability to effectively interact with other Functions (HSE, Operations, Engineering, Accounting etc.)
  • Supports special projects as deemed necessary by the Maintenance Supervisor

Licenses/ Certifications

  • Valid driver's license with no restrictions that would prohibit driving a company vehicle is required

  • OSHA 12 course preferred

Qualifications/ Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years of maintenance experience in oil and gas industry
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Familiar with Computer Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
  • Proficient with CMMS
  • Understand life cycle of maintenance and operations
  • Extensive knowledge of H2S operations and equipment
  • Ability to read, interpret and record data from meters, gauges, panels, computer consoles and other equipment
  • Knowledge of electronics and electrical principals
  • Ability to diagnose basic problems and troubleshoot equipment regardless of complexity, and take corrective action within established guidelines
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office applications
  • Effective communication skills both oral and written
  • Knowledge of rules and regulations of government regulatory institutions
  • Experience with Permit to Work, Mechanical Isolation Standards and Risk Assessments
  • Work schedule 5/2, 10-hour days
  • The successful candidate will live within 70-miles of Jourdanton, TX

  • Analytical problem solver and decision maker, with a focus on delivery of cost-effective solutions
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Comfortable interacting with those outside the Maintenance organization to influence necessary change
  • Team player with good interpersonal, coaching, and mentoring skills
