TITLE Substitute Security Officer

DESCRIPTION

Alternate Perspectives, Incorporated (API) has an immediate opening for a Substitute Security Officer. If you want to be a part of dynamic team that helps young people ages 16-24-years-old, this job is for you! You will be a part of the nation’s most successful youth training and education program, Job Corps, for the past 60 years.

As a Substitute Security Officer, you will be on call and utilized as needed. You will be responsible for responsible for maintaining a safe and secure living, learning, and working, environment; performing guard and patrol duties in assigned areas to protect life and property against theft, misappropriation, fire, flood or similar disaster; and transporting students on an as needed basis using GSA Fleet vehicles.

Some Additional Essential Functions:

1. Ensure the physical security of buildings and property by checking doors, windows, lights, electrical appliances, equipment, locks and emergency equipment; maintain log of findings and corrective action taken as required.
2. Perform various administrative functions and tasks such as entering and maintaining daily logs, preparing incident reports, and conducting investigations as directed; answering phones and welcoming staff, students and visitors/guests to the Center.
3. Assure accountability (protocol) of student check-in and out (to and from center grounds) by conducting sign in/out procedures according to API guidelines and directives.
4. Perform parking and traffic control duties; check identification of personnel and students seeking entrance to or exit from grounds and permit or deny entrance or exit according to established policies and procedures.
5. Perform routine vehicle equipment inspections, including lights, brakes, mirrors, steering and other required operating equipment; document findings as required and recommend mechanical repairs as needed.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent and one year related experience. Experience with youth, excellent written and verbal communications skills and computer proficiency required. Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record. Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) preferred and given special consideration.
