ABOUT THE POSITION
The County of Riverside - Riverside University Health System-Public Health is recruiting a Registered Nurse for the Maternal, Child & Adolescent Health/ Black Infant Health Program located in Riverside, Ca. The incumbent will be responsible for:
The Public Health Nurse will work in the Black Infant Health Program to provide services for pregnant and post-partum women enrolled in the program. Please click here to learn more about the program.
The position requires home visitation, case management services, conducting health assessments and developmental screenings, assistance with group facilitation, some outreach activities, work with a team, assist with chart audits and completion of chart documentation.
Driving Required.
Work Schedule: 9/80. Hours to be determined by department.
Licenses and Certs:
• May participate in quality assurance reviews; may act as a team leader or relief charge nurse.
• Assign and monitor the work of subordinate nursing personnel; participate in committee activities.
• May triage patients by reviewing admission charts and merging patients into the patient assignment or clinic flow at the appropriate time and place.
• May testify in court as to the client's mental and physical condition; may recommend initiatingconservatorshipinvestigations when assigned to the mental health setting.
• May coordinate and monitor patients through the hospitalization process utilizing physicians, primary care nurses, and third-partypayorsto maintain quality care and fiscal responsibility.
• May review the post hospital care plan with the patient/family, establishing a contact regarding time frames and responsibilities; follow plan through a discharge.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Registered Nurse II ($41.2180- $49.3024 Hourly):
Education: Successful completion of the coursework required to obtain a valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of California. A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in nursing or related field is required for these positions.
Experience: Completion of one year of experience as a Registered Nurse in an acute care hospital, mental health setting, clinic outpatient setting, or healthcare agency program. Experience gained as an Interim Permit Nurse may be credited toward meeting the required experience. Evaluations and references must show proficiency of practice as a Registered Nurse.
Registered Nurse III ($44.2785 - $56.3552 Hourly):
Education: Successful completion of the coursework required to obtain a valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of California. A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in nursing or National Certification in a nursing specialty may be considered in lieu of one year of experience. A Master's degree in nursing may be considered in lieu of two years of experience.
Experience: Three years of full-time experience as a Registered Nurse in an acute care facility, mental health facility, or community health agency.
Registered Nurse IV ($47.3797 - $59.4516 Hourly):
Education: Current and valid National Certification in Nursing or health related field or graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in nursing or related field. A Master's degree will substitute for two years of general experience.
Experience: Six years of current full time experience as a Registered Nurse. Some positions may require two years in a specialty area.
Registered Nurse V ($51.7255- $62.7172 Hourly):
Education: Current and valid National Certification in Nursing or related field AND a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in nursing or related field.
OR
A Master's degree from an accredited college or university in nursing or related field.
Experience: Nine years of current full time experience as a Registered Nurse. Some positions may require two years in a specialty area. A Master's degree will substitute for two years of the general experience.
Knowledge of: Teaching and/or supervising the current principles, techniques and procedures used in professional nursing; medical terminology and patient care routine appropriate to clinical setting; medical instruments and equipment; the uses and effects of medicines and narcotics; community resources available to provide patient care and follow-up; federal, State and local laws and regulations governing professional aspects of nursing.
Ability to: Perform, supervise and instruct in the full range of nursing duties and responsibilities in an patient care setting; plan and organize nursing plans for patients; prepare and maintain concise and complete records and reports; establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, patients, fellow employees, and other outside healthcare providers; secure the cooperation of employees to work effectively together; keep abreast of developments in areas of nursing specialization; teach, mentor and supervise others routinely; may be assigned to any unit to fill in temporarily to assist staff or a supervisor, which may include units within the hospital or a public health clinic; effectively prepare and present reports and recommendations both orally and in written form; collect and evaluate data, draw conclusions and formulate recommendations.

DEFERRED COMPENSATION: Voluntary employee contribution with a choice between two 457 deferred compensation plan options.
VACATION ACCRUAL (Bi-Weekly Accrual):
0< 3 year = 80 Hours (10 Days)
4< 9 years = 120 Hours (15 Days)
10 or more years = 160 Hours (20 Days)
Maximum Vacation leave accumulation is 480 hours.
SICK LEAVE: Four (4) hours Sick Leave accrual per pay period with unlimited accrual.
HOLIDAYS: Normally 12 paid holidays per year.
BEREAVEMENT LEAVE: Allowed 5 days (3 days are County paid; 2 additional days can be taken from accrued Sick Leave balance).
BASIC LIFE INSURANCE: Equal to one times annual base salary not to exceed $50,000 of term life coverage. Premiums are paid by the County. Additional Supplemental Life plan is available for employee purchase.
DISABILITY: Short-term Disability benefit pays up to a maximum of $461.54 weekly, payable up to a maximum of 52 weeks.
POST RETIREMENT MEDICAL CONTRIBUTION: A monthly contribution is made by the County towards retiree health insurance offered through the County as governed by the applicable SEIU Memorandum of Understanding.
