GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The role of the Instructor of Adult Education is to offer instructional methods and materials to help the adult education student make basic educational gains in the subject areas of Reading, Math, and Language, as well as help the student earn the Arkansas High School Diploma, enter into college, or find employment based on what the student's educational goals are at the time of entrance into the program.
This position has the same duties as a regular Adult Ed Instructor, with a few additional duties assisting our career coaches. This instructor will assist our WAGE Coordinator in helping students on all campuses to complete the basic workforce certificate.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Instruct students in the Adult Education classroom with emphasis on CCR standards. Develop student learning plans, assist students with problems, develop group lessons/activities.
2. Guide/instruct students enrolled in the WAGE or other employability certification program. Assist the WAGE Coordinator with employability lessons, assist students with online components of WAGE. Assist career coaches with tasks occasionally, such as helping students with career goals, building resumes, and job searches.
3. Attend required workshops and trainings, both in-person and online. Complete professional development as required by the state of Arkansas.
4. Assist with intake and entrance testing, as well as re-testing. Counsel students regarding their learning plans and keep plans updated as student works toward completion of his/her respective program.
5. Assist with recruitment and retention efforts for the ASUB Adult Education program as needed.
Preferred
Licensure in Adult Education - If a teacher does not have the Adult Ed certification, he/she must obtain within three years of the date of hire of initial employment as a full-time Adult Education teacher.
