Position Type: Full-time, Non-exempt


Systems Application & Technologies, Inc. (SA-TECH) is currently hiring an Electronics Technician II to support the Aircraft Instrumentation Systems Division, Production Branch located at the Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division, Point Mugu, CA.


As an Electronics Technician II, you'll perform standardized or prescribed assignments involving a sequence of related operations, follow standard work methods on recurring assignments but receive explicit instructions on unfamiliar assignments. The technical adequacy of routine work is reviewed on completion; non-routine work may be reviewed in progress.


Your typical duties would include (but aren't limited to):

  • Following specific instructions, assembles or constructs simple or standard equipment or parts, servicing or repairing simple instruments or equipment;
  • Conducting a variety of tests using established methods, preparing test specimens, adjusting and operating equipment, recording test data, and pointing out deviations resulting from equipment malfunction or observational errors;
  • Extracting engineering data from various prescribed but non-standardized sources, processing the data following well-defined methods including elementary algebra and geometry, and presenting the data in prescribed form
  • Fabricate printed circuit boards and build harnesses and technical assemblies per customer requirements and specifications. Coordinate and monitor project production schedule with production lead and other technicians to ensure successful and timely completion of RDT&E work regarding the instrumentation of weapons systems and other electronic systems.
  • Assist engineers and technicians in the fabrication of printed circuit boards and Telemetry/GPS antennas.
  • Support project plans, schedules and detailed phases of technical work concerning instrumentation and telemetry hardware, test sets and printed circuit board assemblies.
  • Be able to learn and assist other work areas such as the surface mount and wave soldering assembly and reflow equipment.
  • Assist production lead in providing labor and materials estimates on new jobs.
  • Ensure all projects meet drawing specifications prior to QA inspection.
  • Hand-solder through-hole and surface-mount components and connectors on printed circuit boards when required and fabricate wiring harness per customer's specifications.
  • Able to work independently.
  • All work shall be completed in a reasonable time frame in accordance to the program delivery schedule, and the number of reworks shall be kept to a minimum.

Work Conditions:

  • Conditions will vary but most work will be performed in enclosed buildings.
  • Work will include sitting, standing, walking, lifting and reaching.
  • Must be capable of lifting 50 by self, 50-100 lbs. assisted by other employees.
  • Working hours are 7am to 4:30pm / Possible flex working hours / Overtime maybe required.
Requirements:

Education/Experience/Skills:

  • Must have attained a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must obtain and maintain certifications for IPC/EIA-J-STD 001, IPC-A-610 and IPC/WHMA-A-620 within 60 days of start.
  • Minimum of 4 years' experience in performing similar duties is required.
  • Conscious of safety, FOD, Tool control, etc.
  • Possess a valid driver's license; must be able to be insured through Company's vehicle insurance policy while driving work/government/rental vehicles during working hours, and for the duration of your work employment.
  • U.S. Citizenship required and the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Interim Security clearance prior to hire and maintain clearance throughout employment.
  • All candidates will be required to pass a consumer report and/or consumer investigation to include SSN, Driver Record and Criminal Background Investigation.
