Senior Lecturer in Media Management

The Department of Journalism and Media Management in the School of Communication at the University of Miami is seeking a full-time senior lecturer to teach courses in our growing undergraduate and graduate programs, starting in August 2024. The ideal candidate will have experience in and ability to teach courses in some of the following areas: media law and regulation, media entrepreneurship, branding, analytics, management of news, entertainment, and social media.


Miami has a global media footprint that attracts domestic and international companies, conventions, and festivals. South Florida houses dozens of English-speaking and Spanish-speaking newspapers, magazines, radio stations, television stations, advertising agencies, film/video production facilities, and major sports teams.


The successful applicant should possess strong interpersonal skills and be a resourceful teacher. Candidates should demonstrate subject knowledge as well as skills relevant to curriculum development within an academic and professional context. The position requires teaching, holding office hours, advising and mentoring of students, as well as serving on departmental, college, and university committees as needed.


A Master's or J.D. degree and professional experience with media organizations are required for this non-tenure position. Prior college-level teaching experience is helpful, but not required.
