Project Accountant

Salt Lake City, Utah- Hybrid

Position Summary

Thales is currently looking for a Project Accountant reports to the Air Mobility Services CFO and provides day-to-day project accounting support to Business Controllers and Project Management in Salt Lake City, Utah. This position is responsible for the accounting of several $20M+ projects with annual revenues of $60M

Must be a U.S. Person as defined in applicable law, or otherwise authorized or eligible for   authorization, to access to hardware, software, technology or technical data controlled under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR).

Key Areas of Responsibility


  • Effectively communicate with Project Managers (PM) regarding contract documents, change orders and other contract modifications, and approvals.


  • Manages and report financial aspects of the project by reviewing cost estimates after execution, analyzing work in progress, and reviewing project expenditures.


  • Optimizes and monitors sales, margins, and cash balances.


  • Provides the Project Manager and their team with all necessary financial data and any information of possible consequence.


  • Prepares and validates all economic and accounting information (dashboards, etc.), factoring in foreseeable developments and anticipating necessary actions (cost control) and establishes financial control rules and ensures they are correctly applied.


  • Compile information for internal and external auditors as required.


Minimum Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field with at least a minimum of 2+ years of relevant accounting work experience


  • At least 1 years of relevant project accounting work experience


  • Excellent analytical skills especially as it relates within a large ERP system


  • Prior experience with MS Office, especially Excel.


  • Above average written and verbal communication skills

Special Position Requirements

Travel: Anticipated that regular domestic travel will be required, estimated at about 1 week per month, or approximately 25% annually.

Customer Location Based or Site Visits: Thales USA, Inc. Overland Park, KS and Salt Lake City Utah. If hired in Utah, very little travel will occur. If hired in Kansas, then some travel will be required.
