Our client is seeking a Cloud Data Engineer for a remote opportunity.


Role Description
The Cloud DATA Engineer is a full stack developer with a background in modern data lake architecture.
This ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of data lake layers and architecture patterns needed to support them along with hands-on experience using a range of related AWS services, including AWS S3, AWS Glue, AWS Step Functions, and Amazon Eventbridge.
This Cloud Data Engineer will have experience working with distributed and big data computational frameworks such
as Spark, Hadoop, Hive, and AWS Glue to drive the design and development of ETL workflows will be required for this role.
This Cloud Data Engineer must have experience implementing data modeling techniques and developing entity relationship diagrams and data schemas. As a hands-on engineer, this Cloud Data Engineer needs to understand DevOps practices, including value streams, feedback, and continuous
improvement.


• Play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and managing infrastructure as code, ensuring scalable and robust data lake solutions.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines using SaaS services like GitHub, GitHub Actions, and AWS CodeDeploy.
• Manage canary releases and blue-green deployments.
• Manage the health and performance of cloud systems by implementing necessary observability and responsive controls.
• Ensure all data and infrastructure deployments comply with enterprise security and access controls, best practices, and standards.
• Collaborate with partners and internal teams to design scalable and secure cloud architectures based on best practices and business requirements.
• Implement security measures and compliance.


Skills & Requirements


• 3 + years of experience developing data engineering within an AWS cloud environment.
• 3 + years of working with AWS services such as CloudWatch, AWS Glue, AWS Step Functions, Amazon DynamoDB, and Amazon Eventbridge.
• 3 + years of experience implementing and using CI/CD pipelines with GitHub, GitHub Actions, and AWS CodeDeploy.
• 1 + years of experience working with infrastructure-as-code (IaC) using AWS CloudFormation with AWS CDK.
• Proficiency in Python with Pandas
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and experience working in Scrum teams, familiarity with Jira Confluence
• Must have experience developing custom scripts, procedures, and SQL queries.
• Should be well versed in test-driven development practices and tools with practical experience implementing linting / validation / testing pipelines (unit, integration, UAT).
• Experience with containerization concepts, including building containers using Docker and managing them using container management systems such as AWS ECS, AWS EKS, or Kubernetes.
• AWS Solution Architecture Professional certification, AWS DevOps Professional certification, or equivalent experience.
• Familiarity with higher education ("EdTech") systems, such as Student Information Systems, Learning Management Systems, and applicant portals.
• Familiarity with EdTech technology standards such as LTI and SCORM
