Description: Our client is currently seeking a Systems Engineer 3
Location: USA - Long Beach CA
Onsite/remote/hybrid: Hybrid (Tues-Thursday)
Duration: 12 Months/ Possibility to extend
The team's broad work statement will provide the opportunity to perform safety analysis at the component, system, and airplane level across a broad range of functional disciplines, including Avionics, Mechanical, Environmental, Electrical, and Propulsion.
We are looking for individuals that are adept at evaluating system architectures to determine the consequences of failures, malfunctions, and defects, and can collaborate with Design Engineers to address in services issues or help create a robust design with various modernization projects.
Position Responsibilities:
Coordinate with Cognizant Engineering and technical activities in the area of System Safety on C-17 Airlift programs
Ensure proper implementation of system safety requirements into the design, test, and operation of Boeing products
Responsible for System Safety deliverable documents (Safety Assessment Report, Critical Safety Items Report)
Support risk assessment analyses for field issues, software safety assessment, and/or fault tree analysis
Provide regular status reports to Boeing management, program management, and the Safety Review Board
Serves as a company resource expert in the definition of system safety program fundamentals including risk identification, analysis and control of hardware and software hazards
Support design activities for Software/system improvement/obsolescence projects
Security Clearance:
This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship
5+ years of experience with commercial or military airplane certification, safety requirements and procedures
4+ years of experience developing/applying aviation related system safety analysis methods such as System Safety Risk Assessments, Fault-tree Analysis (FTA), Functional Hazard Assessment (FHA) and Safety Assessment Report (SAR)
4+ years of experience performing system safety analysis and/or studies
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
