JOB SUMMARY:

The Strategic Project Manager is a member of the Office of the Provost and is responsible for driving academic initiatives on behalf of the Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost and the provost's leadership team. Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Academic Planning & Strategy, this position oversees the planning, design, and implementation of large scale, mission-driven projects and management of the complex Provost Office Portfolio utilizing established project management practices. Other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES:

40% - Essential - Strategic Project and Portfolio Management:
Manages the complex Provost Office Portfolio, ensuring that projects are completed on time, according to scope and predefined performance measures. Manages multiple projects and priorities, such as initiatives aligned with strategic plan goals and objectives, annual reports, mission-critical operations, new business processes, as well as revolving needs for quarterly meetings of the Board of Trustees.

30% - Essential - Success Measures and Project Tracking:
Works closely with the Senior Business Analyst to incorporate data-informed analyses and analytics into project goals and outcomes, tracking and reporting out on success measures. Develops and/or acquires and maintains instruments to support project management activities. Develops and maintains project databases, data management, and quality assurance protocols.

30% - Essential - Data, Presentations and Communication:
Ensures that external division participants are engaged and continually informed of status and direction of project activities. Transparent communication of project status updates via dashboards, presentations, and formal reports, both oral and written, is a core function of the role. Presentations or updates to stakeholder groups outside of the Provost s Office may also be requested, on an as-needed basis. Is responsible for working with the Director and project management team to deliver an annual report of impact, utilizing metrics and other KPIs.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education - Bachelor's Degree
Experience - 3+ years of experience managing large projects of moderate complexity and risk

Certfications - Possess the PMP Certification (Project Mgmt Professional); If the applicant does not currently have a PMP, this certification must be obtained within two years of start date as a condition of continued employment.

Education - Master's Degree

Experience - 5+ years of experience managing large-scale initiatives; preference will be given to experience in higher education environments

No Budget Responsibilities - No fiscal responsibility for the department's budget.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

5% - Overnight Travel
