Wood is currently recruiting for a talented Engineering Project Manager- Renewables to join our diverse team of professionals. The role will be remote but qualified applicants could work where Wood has a local office.
The Engineering Project Manager- Renewables will bring several years of experience of developing and implementing renewable energy projects. The Engineering Project Manager will provide project management of multi-disciplinary renewable energy projects, typically solar PV, storage and hybrid and onshore wind, through FEED, EPC and package negotiations, design review, and construction phases. The Engineering Project Manager will be responsible for managing the overall project scope, schedule, cost, and risk management as well as establishing and maintaining a professional and satisfactory relationship with the Wood Project Team, the client, other consultants working for the client, regulatory agencies, and any other project stakeholder.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Engineering Project Manager responsibilities of this post include:
Manages and mentors a team of multi-disciplined specialists to deliver owner's engineering services including but not limited to development support, design reviews, value engineering, contractor selection and negotiations, field inspections, progress monitoring, and construction and management and quality oversight.
Manages a team of multi-disciplined specialists on the delivery of conceptual through to IFC design packages.
Supports Wood's Ckean Energy business by managing scopes of work that include early-stage feasibility, conceptual design, and FEED for our onshore renewables, decarbonization, green hydrogen and power to x offering. The role would involve the management of multi-discipline engineers and specialists to deliver feasibility, design and owner's engineering scopes of work on time and within budget whilst also delivering best in class value engineering for our clients.
Serves as primary point-of-contact by establishing, maintaining, and managing customer's expectations.
Prepare proposals, assist in presentations, and participate in contract negotiations. Additionally prepare work orders and change orders as scope changes occur.
Reports project status and performance data as required to management, project sponsors and other stakeholders. Regularly and accurately reporting the status of key projects to senior management.
Plans, monitors, and controls the project throughout its life-cycle (bid, contract award, project development/owner's engineering, construction support, close out).
Work closely with the project team to confirm deliverables and services are being provided to the client's satisfaction. Work with the project team to cross sell additional services.
Ensuring health, safety and environmental considerations are integral to the delivery of projects and project tasks.
Add value, avoid/resolve issues, mitigate risks and manage project's finances, project contractors and contracts by applying robust project management practices and experience from previous projects.
Participation at site visits and meetings in the USA and abroad.
Disseminate knowledge and experiences to other team members and supporting the development of the team and team members.
QUALIFICATIONS
Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Engineering (Civil or Electrical preferred)
Knowledge of renewable energy projects
Minimum of 5 years' experience in delivery of multiple multi-disciplinary energy projects simultaneously
Knowledge of engineering and construction best practices
Experience of high value contract management and management of contractors
PE license preferred; Project Management certification preferred.
Knowledge and application of Financial Management/Project Controls.
Ability to prepare high quality, concise documents to convey project progress, status and financial information to internal and external project stakeholders
Excellent communication (written and spoken) in English, with the ability to engage and interface with stakeholders; bilingualism (or a proficiency in Spanish) a strong asset
Basic understanding and application of contract commercial terms.
Ability to work with minimum supervision
Excellent time management and organizational skills
Valid driving license for use within USA
Willingness for occasional domestic travel (up to 20%)
Must be a US or Canadian Citizen or authorized to work lawfully in the US and / or Canada, without sponsorship from Wood
