The HR Generalist will play a key role on the HR Business Partner team. The principal responsibility of this position is to proactively support the HR Business Partner covering the initiatives and activities for Investor Relations, Global Credit, Investment Solutions, and Impact Investing. This includes generalist responsibilities such as employee relations, the administration of FMLA and immigration cases, employee on-boarding and off-boarding, and other work that directly impacts the employees in these business segments.
Responsibilities
Program Management (25% of time)
Meet with each 2Yr Associate quarterly to discuss employee experience, career path beyond the program, and answer any employee questions
Manage Associate headcount; obtain approval for additional headcount where necessary, track headcount/staffing grids YoY by fund, and maintain insight into pipeline and diversity planning
Assist HRBP with event planning
Work with recruitment on marketing, diversity initiatives, and tracking the stats of each year
Research & analyze the competitive landscape of Associate programs within the industry
Assist with 2Y compensation & performance management process at mid-year
HR point of contact for all summer interns in the Global Credit, IR, or Investment Solutions businesses
On and Off Boarding Management (20% of time)
Conduct new hire orientation as part of a rotation schedule
Assist with hoc assignments and projects
Manage exit interviews for junior to mid-level employees
Conduct new hire check-ins for junior to mid-level employees
Work with EA Manager on EA coverage model
Employee Relations (15% of time)
With guidance from the HRBP, partner with managers and employees to resolve certain work-related issues in a fair, consistent, and equitable manner
Provide guidance, support, and recommendations for the resolution of critical and complex employee relations activities
Have a working knowledge of the employee handbook
Meet with employees as needed
Analyze exit interview feedback and raise to HRBPs in the event there are larger themes at hand
Employee Leaves/FMLA (10% of time)
Work with HCM Jr. Analyst to manage the full cycle leave process
Work with employees to support and educate them throughout the process
Coordinate leaves with Payroll and Benefit teams
Work with HCM Jr. Analyst to track all employee cases, ensuring paperwork is complete and compliance standards for FMLA files are met
Generate response documentation throughout the process
Immigration (10% of time)
Own the progress of immigration cases, including key documents and correspondence with outside counsel
Other immigration related duties as needed
Flag deadlines and road blocks on sensitive cases to HRBP
Recruiting Support (10% of time)
Partner with Recruitment on structuring offers; review C&B budget alongside HRBP to ensure accuracy
Other Duties (10% of time)
Draft transfer and other employee letters for HRBP review
New hire check-ins and exit interviews for coverage groups (to include exit interviews for IR Interns)
Partner with EA HR Operations Manager on EA coverage changes and EA career development planning
Short-term and long-term project work across a wide variety of HCM and firm wide topics
Various other tasks as assigned
Qualifications
Education & Certificates
Bachelor's degree required
Professional Experience
A minimum of 3 years' progressive HR experience in a generalist, campus recruitment, or program manager capacity, required
Strong interpersonal skills; able to effectively communicate with employees at all levels, outside vendors, etc.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Creative and innovative problem-solving skills/conflict resolution skills
Ability to work with minimal supervision: proactive and resourceful
Proficient in Excel
Ability to maintain confidentiality when exposed to situations/information of a sensitive nature
Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team and with all levels

Competencies & Attributes
Excellent Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required

Benefits/Compensation
The compensation range for this role is specific to New York City and takes into account a wide range of factors including but not limited to the skill sets required/preferred; prior experience and training; licenses and/or certifications.
The anticipated base salary range for this role is $105,000 to $115,000.
In addition to the base salary, the hired professional will enjoy a comprehensive benefits package spanning retirement benefits, health insurance, life insurance and disability, paid time off, paid holidays, family planning benefits and various wellness programs. Additionally, the hired professional may also be eligible to participate in an annual discretionary incentive program, the award of which will be dependent on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
