School: Harvard John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences

Department_Area: Material Science & Mechanical Engineering

Position Description: Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Fellow to work with Professor David Clarke on oxide materials for high-temperature coatings and related materials. A PhD or equivalent in materials science, applied physics, thermal properties, mechanics, mechanical engineering or a related area is required.

The ideal candidate would also have experience in the design of experiments, should be knowledgeable about oxides and metals and, also, be able to conduct experiments independently. Expertise in materials characterization, such as X-ray diffraction, and high-temperature materials properties is desirable.

The successful candidate will carry out experimental and modeling research related to novel high-temperature thermal protection systems and their thermal characterization.
