Position Title: Instructor - Upward Bound (Temporary, Part-Time, up to 19.5 hours per week)
Department: Desert Vista - Upward Bound
Rate of Pay: $25.49/hour

Position Summary:
The Pima Community College Upward Bound Program is currently accepting applications for Temporary Instructors. The Upward Bound Program provides assistance in the areas of academic support and enrichment, AIMS preparatory, career exploration, and post secondary information to identified students. The primary purpose of the federally funded program is to prepare students in grades 9-12 to attend and graduate from college.
The students attend academic classes specifically designed for them during the academic year and during our summer component as well.
We are seeking to staff the following classes:
- Science
- Math (All levels)
- Foreign Languages
- Social Sciences
- English/Writing
- We are especially interested in individuals that have extensive knowledge of standardized tests
Summer (5/31 - 6/30) positions available; tentative days/hours are Monday - Friday from 9:00am - 12:00pm & 12:25pm - 3:25 pm (days/hours will vary depending on assignment).
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for teaching a diverse population of high school students in various non-credit enrichment classes
- Prepare instructional materials, lesson plans, and classroom presentations
- Develop, review, and revise curriculum
- Assess, evaluate and document students' skills and progress
- Maintain accurate records and documentation
- Curriculum development
- Materials evaluation and selection
- Non-traditional, student-centered approaches to instruction
- Career and academic development principles
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field and
- Two years of teaching experience
Or
- An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above
