Overview

  • This position is open to current employees and applications will be accepted until 4:30 pm on May 21, 2024.
  • The pay rate for this position is $28.39 per hour and is non-negotiable.

The Healthy Early Years (HEY) clinic is a nonprofit training facility that offers low-cost family, couples, and child therapy. HEY is a counselor training facility operated by the Center for Excellence in Early Development (CEED) and San Diego State University, Department of Child and Family Development.

Provide onsite mental health services to students from a cluster of schools within the

San Diego Unified School District (SDUSD) who may not otherwise have access to these supports. Consultant shall focus on providing brief therapy models with both students and families. These services should provide a strength-based focus on resilience and encompass a range of mental health services as required by the needs of the student population. Services may include mental health assessments and evaluation, individual/group/family therapy, treatment plan development, collateral services, and case management. Clients needing prolonged interventions should be referred to community or clinic-based providers.



Responsibilities

Treatment 60%

  • Provide onsite school-based mental health services to students within SDUSD.
  • Deliver services using brief therapy models when appropriate and will refer students and families
  • to community and clinic-based providers for additional therapeutic interventions.
  • Use clinical judgement to determine modality, frequency, and duration of treatment.
  • Document mental health services and maintain treatment records.

Administrative 30%

  • Work with school administration/designee to obtain referrals.
  • Schedule and plan appointments/ days on school sites according to school schedule and referrals received
  • Review referral and caseload information quarterly and communicate this information with
  • school administration.
  • Collaborate with the District to prioritize referrals based upon identified acuity and individualized
  • student needs.
  • Collaborate with District to identify group therapy topics and participants.
  • May attend District events and activities to promote services and facilitate outreach efforts.

Other Duties and Responsibilities as assigned 10%

  • Attend weekly clinic staff meetings
  • Attend summer clinic trainings


Qualifications

Knowledge and Abilities

  • Associate/Intern Clinician (APCC, AMFT, ASW) have completed a qualifying master’s level program and are registered with the CA Board of Behavioral Sciences.
  • Ability to pass Department of Justice finger printing, background check, and up to date vaccinations for MMR, T-DaP, TB clearance, Flu Shot, COVID-19.

Required Experience/Education

  • Completion of an accredited master’s level program in counseling, marriage and family therapy, or social work with a need to complete supervised professional experience to be licensed.
