Global Brand Manager, Prestige & Innovation - Maker's Mark

Reporting to the Maker's Mark (MM) Global Director, Prestige & Innovation, the Global Brand Manager, Prestige & Innovation is a brand management role within the MM Global Brand House. The position is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of compelling brand strategies anchored in the brand's super premium and prestige expressions, delivering exceptional in-market brand performance while strengthening global brand equity. Balancing consumer centricity and cultural curiosity with strong commercial acumen and an obsession for execution, the Brand Manager works with Regions, Markets, and Distillery teams to ensure that we delight consumers at every touch point. A strong communicator and collaborator, the Brand Manager needs to align the brand's marketing and innovation community behind a compelling brand strategy while ensuring that local insights and 'jobs to be done' are clearly addressed in the delivery of MM brand and product experiences.

This role represents a major opportunity for a seasoned Brand Manager to join one of the world's most celebrated whisky brands at a vital moment in its history as it seeks to accelerate into a new phase of global brand growth.

Role Responsibilities

(Gemba) Insight:


  • Ensure the application of cultural, competitor, category and consumer insights in our brand portfolio and innovation strategy development and execution.
  • Ensure that we penetrate consumer behavior and business/brand data to go beyond the "what" to really understand the "why" and implications for future growth plans.
  • Ensure that Region and market consumer and category dynamics are incorporated into the Brand House Strategies and plans.
  • Strong financial acumen including budget management/recommendations.

Brand Foundations & Stewardship:


  • Champion and nurture the Maker's Mark way of delivering on our liquid and quality vision, ensuring the Regional and in-market teams are trained and confident on the what and why of the liquids within the brand's super premium and prestige portfolio.
  • Place the Brand's timeless DNA at the heart of our brand strategies, ensuring our plans and execution in market consistently nurtures and strengthens our equity.
  • Lead the identification, development and application of the brand's distinctive ID and design codes to packaging and marketing communication platforms to build memory structure, standout along the consumer journey and brand saliency.

Strategy & Planning:


  • Working with the BH Director and Distillery team to play a leading role in the development of a focused portfolio/innovation strategy and pipeline for Maker's Mark that strengthens our DNA and delivers agreed brand/commercial objectives in market.
  • Ensure excellence in portfolio and innovation project delivery by partnering with internal and external stakeholders to see projects through from concept to execution.
  • Play an active role, supporting the team in the creation of the BH 12 Year strategies and 3 Year Strat Plans
  • Working with the BH teams to support the development and sign-off of the Brand's 3 Year Growth plans, working collaboratively with cross-functional colleagues and Regional/In-market brand teams.

Experience Design & Delivery:


  • Play a leading role in the development and deployment of consumer centric, impactful and fully integrated experience platforms that both link to our master brand foundations and create meaningful experiences for our brand's super premium and prestige expressions.
  • Drive for "brilliance in execution" with both strategic precision and an obsession for detail that starts with the product experience and which is amplified through consumer programs that drive talkability and saliency.
  • Ensure that we create a culture of learning and accountability through the tracking of programs and brand performance against clear KPIs and reviews.
  • Ensure marketing plans meet the requirements for financial year targets, including marketing spend on budget.
  • Bring a bias for action and agility to the execution of the BH strategy and plans, ensuring that we respond appropriately to changing market and competitor dynamics.

Leadership & Talent Development.


  • Align Regional and in-market marketing teams behind an ambitious, clear and culturally relevant growth strategy for the MM portfolio.
  • Champion the implementation and on-going development of our "One Suntory Global Spirits Way of Marketing" across the Brand House, Regions and Markets.
  • Coach and develop team members, developing candidate management competencies while growing

Qualifications

Key skills & competencies required:


  • Experience in managing the creative brand building and innovation process and fostering productive relationships with agencies, creative teams and cross functional partners. Proven record in partnering with Sales and Commercial leaders to align marketing strategy to commercial goals.
  • A track record in bringing new thinking and ideas to a business/brand in order to accelerate growth.
  • A strong curiosity for different cultures and markets across the world.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS


  • 4-8 years' consumer marketing experience. Global luxury brands, spirits experience, or CPG preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, business or related field preferre
  • Experience in packaging design and development preferred
  • Experience building and growing premium brands, preferably in alcohol beverage category
  • Experience with agency management
  • Demonstrate a digital first approach to brand building
  • Experience in digital content development, website strategy, eCommerce, Direct-To-Consumer, CRM preferred
  • Strategic thinker
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
  • Ability to draw conclusions from data and extract meaningful insights to tell a story
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working with supply chain to understand short- and long-term tradeoffs
  • Team player with collaborative style with a listen first approach
  • Culturally sensitive, proven ability to build credibility and excel in a global environment
  • Able to work well in a fast paced, cross-functional environment, and navigate ambiguity
  • Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and complete projects in a timely manner

  • Team members of the Distillery, Heritage, and Innovation teams in Kentucky

  • Cross functional leads and teams (e.g., Digital, PR, Capability, HR)
  • External agencies

An estimated salary for this position is $130,000 - $150,000
