Daniel Drake Center for Post-Acute Care is the regions premier provider of post-acute and transitional care services, offering a complete range of inpatient and outpatient services including medically complex care, skilled nursing, assisted living, wellness services and research. Daniel Drake Center helps patients recover from catastrophic injury and illness including multi-system organ failure, complex wound care, traumatic brain injury, stroke and spinal cord injury.

Daniel Drake is the only hospital-based skilled nursing facility in the Cincinnati region. UC Health is committed to providing an inclusive, equitable, and diverse place of employment.The Sr Cook is responsible for the preparation and presentation of menu items for patients, guests, and catered events, and sanitation of the storage areas of the production and dish room areas of the department, compliant with all regulatory agencies, and departmental and operational policies and procedures.


  • Cooks and prepares products for patient, guest, staff, and catering events, or any special functions as ordered. Complies with and reinforces all departmental policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies as it pertains to Food Service operations. Follows Board of Health, Joint Commission and all other regulatory agencies' regulations and procedures regarding procurement, storage, preparation, holding, and sanitation for Food Service Operations. Ensures that food is prepared with-in strict accordance of diet restrictions, formulated recipes, and HACCP guidelines.

  • Responsible for ensuring that staff follow assigned responsibilities in advanced food preparation and production areas of the kitchen. Ensures the overall sanitation of the production and dish room areas of the department are being maintained with strict adherence to the procurement, storage and preparation process.

  • Assist Supervisor with the development preparation, and implementation of new menu offerings, inputting of recipes in the computer for future referencing and maintaining the production recipe book as menu changes are implemented.

  • Assist in the recording of product usage for forecasting future needs and to establish par levels. Assist with taking physical inventory to ensure adequate supplies are available for patients, guest, and catered events. Orders food and supplies from approved vendors at established intervals when assigned or in the absence of the direct reports.

  • Ensures all menu items and ingredients are available as needed and prepared, portion and plated per recipe and in accordance with all diet orders, restrictions and food allergies.

  • Understands basic programming and maintenance of the Point of Sale system, with the ability to handle routine questions and problems that may arise.
