Job Description:

The Sr. Systems Administrator plans, implements, builds, configures, and maintains on-premises and cloud-based IT Infrastructure which includes data center, telecommunications equipment, networks (wired and Wi-Fi), and systems, for voice, video, and data for all company locations. This Sr Systems Administrator provides support and mentoring to the Mac Papers Service Desk, routinely monitors, installs, troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains servers, networks, and telecommunications equipment. The Sr Systems Administrator is also responsible for assisting with and guiding third party Managed IT Security Services, to ensure that their information security policies and services are aligned with Mac Papers + Packaging's IT and business strategies. (This is meant to be a guide. Duties may vary dependent upon management.)

Essential Position Functions:


  • Installs and integrates new server hardware, applications, and configurations.

  • Supports, configures, maintains cloud based and on-premises data centers, company networks and servers.

  • Recognizes and addresses the need for updates and for enforcing IT Security compliance.

  • Research, implement and maintain policies and best practices for cloud architectures.

  • Manage platforms for mobile device management (Microsoft Intune)

  • Ensures network security and connectivity.

  • Monitors network and system performance and availability Addresses issues proactively to mitigate the risk of unplanned outages.

  • Manages the administration of user accounts.

  • Resolves problems reported by end users.

  • Backup support for front line help desk resources. Assists in the resolution of ticket backlog when needed.

  • Follows and suggests network policies and procedures.

  • Specifies system requirements.

  • Provides server system administration.

  • Administers security control software and tools.

  • Documents processes, procedures, and architectures

  • Contributes to support knowledge management - Ability to improve operational efficiencies by reducing the time spent rediscovering previous incidents or problems.

  • Documents and disseminates identification and resolution of problems to avoid future redundant work efforts.

  • Adheres to change management best practices to manages technical change-related risks. Able to effectively handle multiple priorities and keep track of assigned tasks.

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, oral, and written communications skills.

  • Works on projects in a self-directed manner. Participates in project planning and implementation, keeping peers and management abreast of progress.

  • Must be able to work alone, and with a team.

  • Other duties as required.

Education and Job Experience:


  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or related field (preferred).

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in systems administration, network, and telecommunications

  • Good technical working knowledge of relevant network development practices.

  • Working knowledge of cloud technologies, disaster recovery and business continuity procedures

  • Experience working on several concurrent and complex initiatives.

  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment.

  • Solid understanding of computer systems and infrastructure.

  • Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues.

  • Teamwork and mentoring skills.

  • Understanding of the latest developments in relevant technical areas.

  • Experience supporting mobile devices and related platforms.

  • Experience working with hosted and cloud-based vendors.

  • Must be able to pass a drug screen and criminal background check.

  • Employee works primarily in an office environment.

  • Employee will participate in an after-hours, on-call, support rotation program.

  • Occasional project and support work after standard business hours and on weekends

  • May require business day or overnight travel to company locations.
