The University of Houston-Clear Lake (UHCL) invites applications for a one-year faculty position at the Visiting Assistant Professor level beginning Fall 2024 in the Communication and Digital Media Studies programs. The undergraduate Communication and graduate Digital Media Studies programs are housed in the Communication and Studio Arts department within the College of Human Sciences and Humanities. The candidate will be expected to teach courses satisfying the needs of the program, such as Introduction to Mass Communication, Public Speaking, Social Media Analytics, Mass Media & Society, and courses focused on multimedia storytelling & production. Area of research expertise is open.
Duties:
Teach four classes per semester (Fall and Spring)
Participate on college, program and departmental committees.
Maintain a productive research program with potential for student involvement
Perform related duties as assigned
Required:
Master's degree in Communication, or related field
Knowledge in current pedagogical techniques for successful student learning in the Communication discipline
Proficiency in online learning management system, Canvas
Interpersonal skills to resolve student complaints and conflicts
Preferred:
Bilingual Skills (especially Spanish)
Earned Doctorate or advanced ABD
Area of research expertise in multimedia storytelling focus
