Overview

We are seeking a full-time Design Certification Engineer for our Aviation Design Certification Engineering (DCE) team located in our Olathe, KS office. In this role, you will be participate in avionics hardware development and contribute to product development through a diverse set of skills. Project and System development contributions are not limited to one area and a DCE can work in many different disciplines.

Essential Functions


  • Assist Project Engineers in managing avionics design teams

  • Guide development teams by understanding and following established design engineering processes

  • Produce and submit key FAA documents to ensure compliance with required aviation regulations

  • Define new products and systems through concept, product development, and requirements definition

  • Provide system level safety analysis of integrated avionics systems

  • Plan, develop, and implement technical compliance activities according to local, national, and international standards and regulations

  • Lead and participate in product development reviews

  • Interface across organizational boundaries to coordinate avionics development

  • Review and update hardware development process documents

  • Become an expert in FAA regulatory requirements

  • Validate, design, and verify avionics hardware, FPGA, and/or software

  • Develop and execute hardware test plans

  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related field AND a minimum of 1 year relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)

  • Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Ability to work well in a diverse team, serving the goals of the company

  • Ability and desire to take ownership of new and/or existing products

Desirable qualifications

  • Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5)

  • Exceptional personal and team oriented organizational skills

  • Project management and organizational experience and/or knowledge

  • Electronic design experience and/or knowledge

  • Experience and/or knowledge of environmental testing

  • Experience and/or knowledge of FPGA code development, validation, and verification

  • Experience and/or knowledge of high level software development

  • Knowledge and/or training with avionics safety analysis, failure modes and effects analyses (FMEAs), and/or boolean logic diagrams

  • Aviation related experience
