Residency Requirements: This position strongly prefer residents of Indiana but may consider residents of surrounding states (MI, OH, KY, or IL) and must have a CRE Certificate.


The REMOTE Speech-Language Pathology Assistant is a state-certified support professional responsible for treating students experiencing communication problems that affect classroom activities, social interaction, literacy and learning. The Speech-Language Pathology Assistant will work under the supervision of a Speech-Language Pathologist. The Speech-Language Pathology Assistant will focus on students' individual needs as defined by each student's Individualized Education Program.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties.


  • Assists in the assessment of student's communication skills (e.g. articulation, language, fluency, voice, etc.) for the purpose of determining their speech and language deficits and developing recommendations.

  • Attends meetings in the presence of supervising Speech Language Pathology (SLP) (e.g. departmental, multidisciplinary team, etc.) for the purpose of receiving and/or conveying information.

  • Conducts speech and language screenings using district approved screening instruments for the purpose of determining student's speech and language deficits.

  • Confers with classroom teacher to provide requested information, implement plans for services and/or make recommendations as directed by supervising SLP.

  • Maintains various files and/or records to provide written support and documentation required.

  • Performs record keeping and basic clerical functions to support supervising SLP.

  • Prepares materials and follows speech language lessons appropriate for individuals or small group (e.g. speech therapy, teaching materials, etc.).

  • Provides direct instructional services to students under the supervision of the SLP for the purpose of implementing goals for remediation of speech language deficits.

  • Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.

  • Performs other responsibilities assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the department.

  • Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality.




Minimum REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
:



  • Active speech-language pathology assistant license issued by the state department of education (preferred) and/or state board AND

  • Active American Speech-Language-Hearing Association Speech-Language Pathology Assistant Certificate (ASHA C-SLPA) AND

  • Two (2) years of speech/language work experience within a public-school setting OR

  • Equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Ability to pass background check requirements




OTHER REQUIRED QUALFICATIONS:



  • Knowledgeable about Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) due process requirements

  • Thorough knowledge and skill in providing speech-language therapy services

  • Ability to work collaboratively with other staff members to plan and deliver speech-language services to children

  • Ability to create and deliver staff development

  • Exceptionally strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Computer Software: Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint; Web proficiency.

  • Ability to travel 25% of time for meetings, professional development, etc.

  • Ability to pass background check requirements




Desired Qualifications
:



  • Online therapy experience

  • Experience with documentation for purposes of Medicaid claiming

  • Experience working with students who require alternative and augmentative communication
