Duties and Responsibilities The Associate Director of Business & Auxiliary Services is responsible for maintaining superior quality customer service for the various enterprises while achieving a positive contribution to the fund balance at the end of the fiscal year. This is accomplished through the use of operational and financial analysis along with the development of policies for the various units within Business & Auxiliary Services.The Associate Director is also tasked with proposing and implementing new enterprises that meet both the current and emerging needs of the campus community while continuing to expanda positive impact on the fund balance.While it is expected that the Associate Director will participate in all areas of Business & Auxiliary Services, the primary areas of concentration are complex financial analyses and the contract administration of the Pouring Rights, ATM, Snack Vending and Laundry Services contracts. The Associate Director is also responsible for developing the strategic plans for the ID Office and Student Center.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Supports the Executive Director for Business & Auxiliary Services in the management of all areas within the department including Accounting, Business, Dining Services, Student Center, Property Control and Transportation.
  • Perform detail operations and financial analysis on all auxiliary services revenue centers to improve customer service and profitability. Issue comprehensive analysis reports with recommendations for improvements.
  • Contract administrator for Pouring Rights, Snack Vending, ATM and Laundry Contracts to include writing RFPs for such services.
  • Provide and maintain monthly performance dashboards for all revenue centers in Business & Auxiliary Services.
  • Responsible for preparing budgets for each of the enterprises within Business & Auxiliary Services.
  • Produce executable business plans for new enterprise.
  • Construct annual strategic plans for the ID Office and Student Center operations.
  • Produce and issue comprehensive annual report of Business & Auxiliary Services. An annual meeting is to be held to present the annual report to key constituents of Business & Auxiliary Services.
  • Formulates and maintains policies and procedures for Business & Auxiliary Services.
  • Reviews and approves reconciliation reports from all operations.
  • Provides superior customer service to students, faculty, alumni and visitors by assisting with questions and concerns.
  • Temporarily handles the duties of Executive Director for Business & Auxiliary Services in their absence.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

Education Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, organizational development, or other related fields or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience
  • Minimum five years of related and progressive experience.
  • Knowledge of Maryland State Procurement regulations preferred.
  • Successful and increasing levels of supervisory experience.
  • An ability to operate under pressure and produce results.
  • An ability to work well with a wide variety of customers and internal/external officials.
  • Extensive experience managing and developing budgets.
  • Ability to perform complex operational and financial business analyses.
  • Ability to occasionally work evenings and weekends as required.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to perform operational and financial business analyses.
  • Knowledge of administrative and business principles, practices and procedure.
  • Knowledge of federal, state and agency’s rules, regulation and policies.
  • Knowledge of supervisory and management principles and practices.
  • Ability to prepare budgets and income statements.
  • Ability to produce executable business plans for new enterprises.
  • Ability to construct strategic plans.
  • Establishes/approves policies and procedures.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to operate under pressure and produce results.
  • Ability to work well with a wide variety of customers and internal/external offices to discuss administrative matters and develop and implement administrative policies and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PeopleSoft Financial and Student Information Systems (or similar software).
