Crane Currency has an immediate position opening for a Quality Engineer. Based out of Malta.

How you will make an impact:

The Quality Engineer will play a pivotal role in overseeing and enhancing quality planning activities with the goal of identifying and addressing manufacturing, quality, and customer-related issues. Proficiency in quality and statistical tools, along with practical application experience, is essential for success in this role. The incumbent will be responsible for making informed decisions backed by data analysis and comprehensive investigations.

Effective collaboration and the establishment of cooperative relationships with various departments, key customers, and other divisions or other operating sites within Crane Currency are crucial aspects of this position. The Quality Engineer is expected to actively promote and reinforce a culture that prioritizes quality, ensuring adherence to product standards, process compliance, and an overarching commitment to customer satisfaction. Continuous Improvement in manufacturing processes and systems will be a key focus for this position.

Your main responsibilites will be to:

  • Lead and support cross-functional failure investigations to identify root cause and corrective and preventative action utilizing advanced problem solving tools (8D, 5 Why, DMAIC, FMEA)
  • Lead and support customer discussions related to failures, often high priority and high visibility. Ensure timely and effective responses to customer issues where responsible.
  • Develop, maintain and analyze internal quality metrics which could be related to Internal Quality Control / Customer Claims / Supplier (internal and external) Claims / Improvement Initiatives.
  • Lead or support in the management of changes, qualification and validation processes, to ensure that the quality of the product is not negatively impacted.
  • Improve the performance and efficiency of overall quality by identifying adverse trends and developing improvement plans
  • Participate in IATF 16949 site roadmap activities and other CBS initiatives

Knowledge and expertise that matter most for this role:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or similar

Preferred:

  • Fundamental understanding of quality engineering and manufacturing principles, including familiarity with concepts such as FMEA, SPC, MSA, GRR, and Fishbone analysis.
  • Proficient in leveraging data for decision-making, demonstrating a data-driven approach.
  • Possesses a positive attitude, takes initiative, and exhibits a strong motivation to learn.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative mindset, comfortable working in a team-oriented environment.
  • Adaptable and flexible, ready to respond to the dynamic needs of the company.
