The Group Lead is responsible for coordinating the daily shopfloor work in ALS Genuine Parts department. They will work closely with the Operations Manager to achieve key capacity and operational metrics. They are tasked with delivering information and resolving issues in an accurate and timely manner, while supporting positive relationships with both internal and external customers.

Coordinate daily headcount based off scheduled work for the day. Delegate tasks as necessary.
Executional support of the cycle count process including but not limited to; recounts, improving processes through root cause analysis, and count schedule is met.
Place purchase orders for packaging and related production expensed materials
Maintain standard times aiding in capacity requirements for kitting, picking, and packing processes.
Ensure that employees are properly trained by their Team Leader or other designated trainer in the areas of safety, quality, equipment operation and 6S
Assist the Operations Manager in annual budgeting exercises (Capital, Expense, Personnel Requirements)
Maintain updated policies, procedures, and standard work instructions for shopfloor team members
Recording and adjusting shopfloor payroll/timesheets
Working closely with Materials group to best utilize space required for inventory
Serve as the first point of contact for employees regarding employee relations issues
Interface with Union Stewards in contract and discipline issues
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Knowledge/Experience:
Proven history of ability to lead with a servant leadership mindset.
Two or more years of experience in a management position. Warehousing, Shipping, Distribution department preferred.
Knowledge of SAP preferred
Previous manufacturing supervision experience would be preferred.
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Manufacturing Engineering or Operations is preferred.
Previous professional, internship or co-op experience will be taken into consideration as relevant experience.
Skills and Abilities:
Must be self-driven and ambitious with proven leadership capabilities, including providing coaching, mentoring and supervision within a team environment.
Proficient with Microsoft Office (Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel).
Strong problem solving skills, including encouraging others on your team to think proactively and create solutions.
Basic understanding of process control, production scheduling, Kaizen, Kanban and Lean manufacturing is preferred.
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Manufacturing Engineering or Operations is preferred.
Previous professional, internship or co-op experience will be taken into consideration as relevant experience.
Physical Requirements
Position involves sitting long periods, standing, manual dexterity, stooping, bending and minimal lifting.
