  • Bachelor Degree with preference in Supply Chain, Finance, Business or Accounting
  • Must have 5-10 years of direct procurement experience in a production environment
  • Strong background in and understanding of Procurement operating systems preferably including SAP operating system

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of supply chain, facilities and capital buys
  • Industrial engineering background and understanding of inventory control methodology (MRP) beneficial

The Procurement Operations Manager will report directly to the Plant Manager in Niles. Procurement Operations is accountable and responsible for executing the Day-to-Day Procurement requirements. This activity will involve interfacing with the business, suppliers, associates in Stores and Category Management in Procurement while managing all or part of the Procurement function associated with the assigned Materials and Services. Principal day-to-day activities may include all or a portion of following:


  • Manage and oversee procurement function of the following locations: Niles OH, Martinsville VA, and Canton OH.
  • Utilize procurement high yield methods to deliver cost save plan for responsible locations and contribute to business plan by collaborating with category management and location stakeholders
  • Lead Indirect Expense Reduction Initiative for locations of responsibility to collaborating closely with plant management, operations, and finance.
  • Support improvement of weighted average days paid in alignment with the annual plan
  • Manage buyers in Niles and Canton OH locations.
  • Interface with the business, suppliers, associates in Stores and Category Management Procurement while managing all or part of the Procurement function associated with the assigned Materials and Services potentially ranging up to $250M in annual spend
  • Providing direct interface to all operations departments across the sites
  • Compliance of purchasing policies and procedures to Howmet standards across all sites
  • Needs and Data identification
  • Daily processing and monitoring of all Purchase Requisitions, Purchase Orders, Executive approvals and distribution.
  • Collecting and filing supporting Purchase Order documentation (acknowledgements, T&C, Insurance info, etc.)
  • Specification Clarification (strong technical and business knowledge required)
  • Source/Supplier identification, to create suppler strategies to cover Production requirements. Maximizing inventory coverage and minimizing inventory investment, at the appropriate quality level.
  • Proposal Analysis, Review & Clarification (Strong analysis skills required)
