Job Purpose

The Environment, Health & Safety Manager (EH&S) is an integral role at the Ferndale, Michigan site. The role will be responsible for providing full cycle Health & Safety support across the business, driving and implementing strategy and for promoting a culture of continuous improvement in line with business objectives. The EH&S Manager will have responsibility for providing leadership and guidance to specific projects in addition to discharging their duties required to ensure compliance with health & safety legislation.

Job Responsibilities

· Direct Hazardous waste program

· Manage 14001 Environmental Management System

· Prepare process safety management and risk management plans

· Lead HAZWOPER spill response team

· Manage OSHA or equivalent programs.

· Prevent and reduce spill, injury and emergency response incidents,

· Develop, conduct and document safety, health and environmental training programs.

· Ensure that all EH&S control, monitoring, record keeping and reporting requirements are satisfied and maintain appropriate documentation.

· Prepare all federal, state and provincial regulatory EH&S reporting and permitting submittals

· Act as liaison with all federal, state and provincial regulatory agencies.

· Manage operation of an onsite wastewater treatment plant.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related field
  • Previous experience of working in a manufacturing / industrial setting.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of OSHA / MIOSHA Standards
  • Experience of carrying out and documenting risk assessments
  • Experience in environmental management
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Lotus Notes.
  • Excellent oral, written and presentation skills required.
