Mike Toth Research CenterMassachusetts Eye and Ear - Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery
Harvard Medical School
Boston MA

Two research fellow positions are available in the translational optical molecular imaging Laboratory at the Toth Center, Department of Otolaryngology-HN surgery at Mass Eye and Ear, with an affiliated appointment at Harvard Medical School. This is an exciting opportunity to work in clinical and preclinical fluorescence molecular imaging, which combines the use of cutting edge imaging technology, recent advances in our understanding of the molecular underpinnings of disease and advances in development of molecular probes to target disease pathology in vivo.

The fellows will specifically work on novel time domain (fluorescence lifetime-based) optical imaging technologies for clinical and preclinical applications in cancer, neuropathology, and cardiac disease. Depending on the candidate's experience, proficiency and career goals, the research can focus on a combination of the following areas: development, maintenance and operation of optical imaging systems and image reconstruction algorithms, developing and designing animal and human protocols, performing preclinical imaging studies with simple animal procedures (surgery, anesthesia etc.), performing in vitro cell culture and ex vivo histology and microscopy studies, and conducting clinical studies for image guided surgery and diagnostics.
