Job Summary
Working under the supervision of the Sr. Manager, EHS Systems & Compliance; the EHS Manager of Machine Services Division is responsible for implementation of strategic initiatives, provides regular oversight and tactical support / leadership of environmental, health and safety systems, processes, programs and other tasks as needed.
Essential Responsibilities
Perform regular EHS audits, coaching employees, and front-line leaders to help ensure compliance with federal, state, customer and company rules, regulations, and laws
Responsible for oversight, implementation, and management / maintenance of applicable EHS Programs for industrial shops
Prepare presentations for EHS training classes and meetings; ensure they are completed professionally and on approved corporate templates
Lead and conduct project risk assessments (JHA, Hazard Analysis, etc.)
Assist with developing EHS programs, policies, and procedures
Maintain an understanding of and be able to communicate the Shermco EHS Policies and Procedures manual
Conduct research, develop trend analysis, compile data, and prepare documents for consideration and presentation to the EHS Manager and staff members
Facilitate group safety and training meetings (Toolbox Talks, CPR, Confined Space, Forklifts, scheduled training meetings)
Guide investigation teams to determine Root Causes of incidents, accidents, and near misses
Develop written summaries and recommendations of findings and opportunities for eliminating occupational exposures
Ensure employees have been provided appropriate level of training; provide necessary training to all levels of employees
Coordinate team members to ensure all tasks and documentation are completed in an efficient and timely manner
Lead and provide oversight of OSHA VPP program and actively participate in VPP Team diligently championing continuous improvement
Coordinate with EHS coordinators/admins in meeting Global EHS Goals, initiatives, and objectives
Qualifications:
3 - 5 years related EHS Leadership experience
Must have production/facility safety experience
Knowledge of business principles and practices, planning, records management, and general administration
General compliance knowledge and understanding of safe work practices related to Mobile Equipment (e.g., Powered Industrial Trucks, Aerial / Powered Platform Lifts, Overhead and Mobile Cranes)
General compliance knowledge and understanding of safe work practices related to Hoisting and Rigging Equipment utilization, inspection, testing and maintenance requirements
Skills & Abilities:
Ability to work well either alone or as part of a team and prioritize and multi-task in a strenuous fast paced work environment
Has production/facility safety experience
Ability to communicate effectively and in a professional manner
Strong professional writing, analytical and problem-solving skills
Must be computer proficient, including but not limited to, MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Preferred Qualifications:
Associates Degree or higher in Occupational Safety and Health preferred
BCSP (CSP, ASP, OHST, CHST, GSP), and / or NFPA (CFPS or CESCP), or ABIH (CIH) Certifications highly desired
