Your Impact

The Hearst Magazines Enthusiast & Wellness Group is looking for a versatile, data-motivated Digital Content Producer to join our reviews team and help grow our product review content on Popular Mechanics. This role works closely with editors in all departments, from our in-house testing team to our SEO department, and will support content that covers a wide range of subjects.


 

The ideal candidate can find their way around a CMS, works quickly and efficiently, loves researching products, and has basic photo editing and data analytics skills. Popular Mechanics is the authority in a number of key categories including lawn and garden, tools and home improvement, electronics and technology, appliances and smart homes, and outdoor leisure. You’ll have the opportunity to touch content that reaches over 8 million users per month. This is a content creation role, not a writing-based role, however there will be some opportunity to write during major sale events so digital editorial experience is a must. 


 

This role sits in the Enthusiast Group office in New York, NY and works closely with a variety of departments, including Editorial, Data, and more.

What you'll do:


  • Build and produce content in our CMS for contributors and full-time staff

  • Monitor high-performing reviews content as it relates to a season, trend, project, or other brand goals, which can include checking stock, re-ordering products based on performance, and more

  • Ensure content is following our search and commerce best practices

  • Support search and commerce goals with a flexible mindset and the ability to change course quickly  

  • Build freelance memos that consist of editorial notes, product performance information, and more

  • Use Google Analytics and our data management platform to optimize for affiliate revenue  

  • Edit photos using photoshop for proper sizing and formatting

  • Liaise with photo, digital design, and our test team to elevate reviews content for search and user intent

  • Help implement and add new product features to content

Who you are/skills you possess:


  • Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years’ experience working at a digital-first outlet

  • Detail-oriented with the ability to work independently and easily pivot with changing business needs

  • Experience working regularly within a CMS

  • Proficiency with Photoshop or other image editing software

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to collaborate and foster positive relationships with colleagues

  • Passion for building editorial brands

  • Familiarity with analytics tools (Google Analytics preferred)

  • Available to work major shopping holidays

The base salary for this role in NY is between $70,000 to $73,600 annually. The actual base pay offered is dependent upon many factors, such as: transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
