Our Opportunity




South Puget Sound Community College seeks an engaging and dedicated Graphic Design Instructor in our Corporate & Continuing Education department (CCE) department. CCE is looking for a Graphic Design Instructor with professional experience that would be available to teach a variety of class topics that may include: Design Principles, User-Centered Design, and Web Design Principles.



Our Corporate and Continuing Education(CCE) division develops noncredit classes that are responsive to the changing needs of business and industry to keep employees current and business competitive. CCE offers 1-2 day training classes conducted by instructors who are experts in their field and recruited from the community.



SPSCC accepts applications for adjunct faculty (part-time) positions on an ongoing basis to establish a qualified pool of applicants. The applicant pool is created for future, part-time professor appointments for the individual program or course indicated. This announcement will serve as an open and continuous applicant pool. Appointment availability varies from quarter to quarter.



Candidates selected from the pool will be contacted by the division should a vacancy arise. Your application will remain in the pool unless notified.

What You'll Do




The Graphic Design Instructor delivers 1-2 day classes using Adobe CS6 Creative suite emphasis on InDesign, Photoshop, and Acrobat. The CCE instructor must have the ability to instruct the specific topics using real-world and clearly presented examples to help participants understand and apply the programs and concepts in their work.



Classes are held at our Lacey Campus and instructors should be prepared to conduct training for a professional audience.




Course Titles


  • Mastering Design Principles

  • Introduction to User-Centered Design and Usability

  • Photoshop CS6 Essentials & Beyond

  • Beginning Web Design Principles

  • Producing Brochures using InDesign, Photoshop & Acrobat

  • Creating Newsletters and Multi-page Designs





Course schedules





Classes are scheduled 3-6 months in advance based on market need and frequency determination of industry needs. Classes will be scheduled based instructor availability.



Each CCE class runs as a 1-2 day offering 8:00 am to 4:30 pm

Qualifications You Possess





Minimum Qualifications


  • 1-3 years field experience

  • Professional examples

  • Training experience





Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience training others in a professional environment

  • Ability to be flexible and teach to multiple levels of experience in one classroom

  • Use real-world examples to explain concepts in class
