Job Description:

The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission is seeking a collaborative, supportive individual to serve as the Assistant Division Administrator of the Fish and Wildlife Education Division. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to build capacity and collaboration in statewide education efforts, communicate effectively with staff, partners, and administration, facilitate conversation to address shared goals and relevancy with a variety of stakeholders internally and externally. This position will support, provide guidance, and be an active member of a dynamic and creative team of educators.


With the guidance of the Fish and Wildlife Education Division Administrator, coordinate, collaborate, and administer environmental, conservation, and outdoor education programs and activities statewide. Develop and maintain trusting work relationships and community networks. Collaboratively identify priorities, objectives, and goals of the division. Evaluate, refine, and promote best practices for environmental/conservation/outdoor education in Nebraska. Create and promote professional development opportunities. Provide meaningful support and guidance to outdoor education specialists and partner positions. Facilitate discussions for Nebraska's Legacy Plan education section revision, NGPC relevancy committee, and Nebraska's Education Strategic Plan revision.



REQUIREMENTS: A Bachelor's degree in an area related to division functions such as education, environmental studies, environmental sciences, ecology, natural resources, biology...etc. plus five years related experience. OR Master's degree in an area related to division functions plus three years' experience.



KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:



Knowledge of: fish and wildlife ecological


principles; environmental education theory and best practices; familiarity of state agency structure and functions.


Skills to: listen to and understand information received; effectively communicate and collaborate professionally with a multitude of personalities; build relationships and trust with partners; take lead facilitation role with ecological education; creatively address education challenges and opportunities.


Ability to: lead a team, build trust, and develop partnerships; coordinate and collaborate internally and externally; effectively communicate verbally and through writing; convey complex information and concepts; represent the agency in a professional manner; set and articulate clear goals and objectives; supervise the work of others; write grants for education projects determined by positions.
