Job Description:

Aspire is a growing nonprofit organization of the Massachusetts General Hospital. We offer a variety of high-quality therapeutic programs and services that focus on helping children with high cognitive autism spectrum disorders and related profiles develop increased self-awareness, social competency, and stress management skills.


The Assistant Program Manager of the Explorations Program is responsible for supporting and managing 4-6 program staff and 2 participant groups. The Assistant Program Manager will be supported by the Explorations Program Manager. The tasks of the role include: facilitating the implementation of Aspire program curriculum; leading specific activity blocks (e.g., social groups); collaborating with program staff to develop interventions, supports and strategies for program participants; modifying curriculum as needed; maintaining communication with families and accurate record keeping; and supporting compliance of program policies and procedures. The Assistant Program Manager of the Explorations Program must have prior experience working with adolescents on the autism spectrum. The Assistant Program Manager must be willing to work closely as part of a group and collaboratively with others. The staff member will work onsite at the program location in Newton and in the community during program outings.


This is a 40 hour per week paid position for 6 program weeks that includes 40 hours of mandatory and paid training prior to the start of the program, along with mid-summer parent conferences. Pre-program and ongoing training and supervision is provided by experienced clinical staff. The Explorations Assistant Program Manager is part of the summer leadership staff for the teen and adult programs; attendance at pre-program planning meetings is expected.



Qualifications

• Enrolled in, or graduate of, a graduate program in: psychology, social work, occupational therapy, speech and language pathology, and other mental health related fields.


• Prior experience working with adolescents with autism spectrum disorders required.


• Strong interpersonal and team-building skills.


• Openness to receiving feedback on interactional skills with families, participants, and staff.


• Desire and ability to work in outdoor settings


• Basic computer skills. MS Word required; knowledge of Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Access helpful.


• Well-developed writing skills.


• Ability to work independently and be flexible.


• Excellent organizational skills.


• Strong attention to detail.


• Problem-solving skills.


• Strong time-management skills
