Job Description:

Primary Job Duties

Customer Service Skills:

Provide customer service by greeting and assisting customers and responding to customer inquiries and complaints.
Answer questions regarding the store and its merchandise.
Answer phones and direct calls.
Report customer suggestions, comments, and complaints to the Department Manager.

Sales Skills:

Maintain knowledge of current sales and promotions and policies regarding payment and exchanges.
Responsible for promoting and locating products that meet the customer's needs.
Takes special orders in accordance with company procedures.

Cashier:

Efficiently operates POS system using proper cash handling methods.
Assists customers with the use of the card processing machine for credit, debit, and ebt.
Scan goods and ensure pricing is accurate.
Handles cash register transactions with speed and accuracy.
Engagement with customers is balanced between friendly and efficient.
Be adequately trained in our POS system in order to address functionality issues, pricing errors, and database accuracy.

Organizational Skills:

Responsible for keeping the store organized and stocking shelves.
Ensure products are properly stocked, rotated and labeled.
Maintaining and consolidating backstock in accordance with standard procedures.
Ensures a clean and organized environment, including sweeping, mopping, and dusting.
Ensures regular maintenance for the bathrooms.

Receiving:

Able to take the lead with stocking and unloading deliveries.
Receive inventory, including checking for quality and expiration dates, and ensuring that all products are properly stored and rotated. Ensure that the invoice is properly noted.
Prepare merchandise for purchase. Ticket, arrange, and display accordingly.

Cardboard Baler Operator:

Load and compress cardboard into the baler.
Bind bales when the baler is full.
Follow safety protocols when operating the baler.
Ensure the recycling shed is maintained in a clean and orderly condition.

Security:

Watch for and recognize security risks and thefts and know how to research these situations.

Leadership:

Ensure staff is fulfilling shift responsibilities, including but not limited to, completing daily checklists, maintaining appropriate break schedules, and providing exceptional customer service.
Assign employees to specific duties.
Maintain high standards based on company policies and mission, hold staff accountable to the same.
Be a primary trainer for new crew members.
Maintain positive aspects of our company culture.
Facilitate staff problem-solving. Keep Department Manager informed of issues that need follow-up.
Learns and adapts to new tasks or situations quickly and cooperatively.
Maintains job-related confidentiality.
Takes initiative to identify report and resolve problems before they escalate.
Provides a positive model for co-workers.

PIC 2:

All PIC 1 responsibilities.
Distribute the employee injury packet as needed and file the supervisor report with Human Resources.
Call-in an employee to cover short staffing per procedure.
Attend to an injured guest per protocol and file forms with the General Manager
Write the register matrix and lunch/break schedule for the shift.
Lead difficult conversations with customers.
Forward observation reports as needed to the manager group.
Follow Drug and Alcohol policy/procedure when an employee is intoxicated at work.

Teamwork:

Ability to work independently or as part of a team. Recognizing the interconnectedness between shifts and how one sets the other up for success.
Perform other tasks as assigned.

Work Context

Attendance: Complies with general attendance policies. Availability meets the needs of the department for scheduling purposes.
Communication - You will need to communicate effectively with customers, colleagues, and management.
Responsibility for Others - This position will direct others to ensure the smooth functioning of the department and accomplishment of goals.
Conflictual Contact - Ability to deescalate situations with customers when possible, forward observation alerts if relevant, and call the police if necessary.
Work Setting - This is primarily an indoor work setting with a few tasks that take place outside. The work is on your feet and fast paced with frequent lifting.
Environmental Conditions - Outdoor tasks can expose the crew member to all weather conditions.
Safety: Complies with all safety policies and procedures.
Work Attire - Closed toe shoes are required. Crew members should follow dress code and present as clean and well groomed.
Routine versus Challenging Work - The work is primarily routine and occasionally challenging.
Pace and Scheduling - Pace varies by time of year. Busy seasons require a faster pace in relation to quality of work and slower seasons can put more time into quality with a slightly slower pace.
