College/Department Information


The Medical College of Georgia is one of the nation's largest medical schools by class size, with 260 students per class. The educational experience is anchored by the main campus in Augusta, regional clinical campuses for third- and fourth-year students across the state and a second four-year campus in Athens in partnership with the University of Georgia. MCG's expanding partnerships with physicians and hospitals across Georgia currently provides about 350 sites where students can experience the full spectrum of medicine, from complex care hospitals to small-town solo practices. MCG and its teaching hospitals also provide postgraduate education to more than 500 residents and fellows in 50 different Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education-approved programs. Our researchers and clinicians focus on what most impacts the health of Georgia's and America's children and adults, including cardiovascular biology and disease, cancer, neurosciences and behavioral sciences, public and preventive health, regenerative and reparative medicine, personalized medicine and genomics. Our physician faculty also share their expertise with physicians and patients at about 100 clinics and hospitals statewide.



Job Summary


The Standardized Patient Coordinator will work directly with and assist the Standardized Patient Coordinator, Augusta in their responsibilities of the daily coordination of Standardized Patient simulations. This includes, but is not limited to, the management, coordination, and monitoring of educational activities involving Standardized Patients as well as operational aspects of the Standardized Patient Program including recruitment and hiring, evaluation and training of Standardized Patients. This position is managed by the Director of the Standardized Patient Program, Augusta.



Responsibilities


The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:



Administrative:


  • Manages the dally activities of the Standardized Patient Program, which Includes managing Standardized Patients, Standardized Patient Advisors, and providing administrative assistance to the Standardized Patient Program Director.

  • Assists In the interview and hiring process of potential new Standardized Patients & Standardized Patient Advisors, to Include, reference checks, background checks, and additional employment forms.

  • Administrative support for approving bi-weekly payroll for Standardized Patients and Standardized Patient Advisors Including data entry and timely submission of documents.

  • Maintains employee records and directory of Standardized Patients.

  • Collaborate with the Educational Simulation Office Specialist to maintain an accurate calendar of Standard Patient events.

  • Assists in the recruitment, orientation, training, and evaluation of Standardized Patients.




Event Related:


  • Provides assistance to other departments that may request Standardized Patients, or reserve the center for their activities, which include but are not limited to Ultrasound, Family Medicine, Anesthesiology, Emergency Medicine, Nursing, Physician's Assistant. Physical Therapy, and Sexual Assault Training.

  • Coordinates and communicates SP schedules and reminders.

  • Event set-up (door notes, checklists, task trainers, exam room supplies, etc)

  • Assists in the orientation at the beginning of each event with all Standardized Patients & medical students. Orientation with the patients consists of reviewing what their responsibilities are tor that particular day and to review any questions they may have before they start their encounters with the students. Provide feedback to the patients on their performances during end of the year testing. Provide assistance with grading in Leaming Space as needed.

  • Works directly with our audio visual system (Leaming Space). Input patient data, student data, faculty data, run student grade reports, event schedules. create activities. Work directly with Leaming Space in troubleshooting any Issues that may come up before or during events. Manage control room during events maintaining the recording system which includes keeping time, making overhead announcements during the student encounters.

  • Participates in direct observation of Standardized Patient performance and be involved in quality assurance activities.

Required Qualifications



Educational Requirements



Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and one year of experience OR Associate's degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of four years of experience, or High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent from a recognized state or federal accredited organization with a minimum of eight years of directly related experience.



Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities



ABILITIES



Excellent verbal/written communication skills and interpersonal, organizational and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and interact with faculty, staff and standardized patients from diverse backgrounds and levels.



Shift/Salary/Benefits


Shift: Days/M-F (work outside of the normal business hours will likely be required of an employee in an exempt level position)


Pay Grade: 16


Salary: Minimum $41,846.00/Annually - $56,492.00/Annually


Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
