Position Summary
The Coordinator will recruit, select, train, schedule, and supervise ESL Academic Coaches associated with the ESL Resource Centers, which are part of the Title V Golden Door/La Puerta Dorada grant. They will assign the ESL Academic Coaches to ESL Pathways classes during the fall, spring, and summer semesters and will also assist the Associate Director of ESL with organizing, promoting, recruiting, and registering students for the Summer Enrichment and Summer Bridge Programs.Summary of Duties



Essential Responsibilities
Coordinate the operations of the ESL Resource Centers at the Journal Square and North Hudson Campus.Recruit, select, train, schedule, and supervise ESL Academic Coaches associated with the ESL Resource Centers as part of the Title V Golden Door/La Puerta Dorada grant.Complete all the Part-Time Authorization Forms for the ESL Academic Coaches.Schedule ESL Academic Coaches in Pathway I and Pathway II courses, as well as non-Pathway sections of ESL (levels two through four) during the fall and spring semesters as well as the Summer Enrichment and Summer Bridge Programs.Schedule the days, times, and locations for the Academic Coaching tutoring sessions. Assist the Associate Director of ESL to organize, promote, recruit, and register students for the Summer Enrichment and Summer Bridge Programs.Create a positive and inclusive learning environment.Meet regularly with the Academic Coaches to:Select appropriate times for tutoring sessions for students outside of the classroom.
  • Communicate schedule changes, concerns, and issues.

  • Collect daily class reports and log-in sheets.
  • Communicate with faculty to assess the performance of their Academic Coaches.Create training materials and conduct orientation and training sessions for Academic Coaches.Submit requests to the Center for Online Learning for the Academic Coaches to have Canvas access for their assigned classes and conduct Canvas training so that they can work collaboratively with the instructor and assist the students with the course content and submission of assignments.Verify and approve timesheets for Academic Coaches.Perform other duties as assigned.Qualifications



    Position Requirements:



    Education and Experience:
    Bachelor's degree required with a minimum of one year of administrative experience, as well as tutoring experience, preferably in a community college. Proficient in Ellucian, Microsoft Office Suite, and social media applications.



    Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
    Knowledge of tutoring objectives and philosophy, required with the ability to plan and organize related projects, programs, and activities. Effective verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills required to effectively collaborate with students, School Deans, faculty, advisors, counselors, and all levels of employees and management. Computer proficiency is also required. An understanding of and commitment to the role of a comprehensive community college in an urban multi-cultural setting also required, with prior experience in working with non-traditional students from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds being essential.
