Advertised Job Summary:

The Instructor of Music Theory for the School of Music will teach music theory courses at the 100-500 levels. Supervise graduate teaching assistants who teach 100-200 level core music theory courses. Develop new courses as needed. Some administrative duties for the theory area may be required. There are no research expectations. This is a 9-month appointment, renewable based on Dean's approval, satisfactory performance, departmental needs, and the availability of funding


The School of Music is an independent unit on campus and a dynamic leader for music and music education in America with a full-time faculty of 53, and a student population of 315 undergraduate and 180 graduate majors representing numerous states and countries. Required Education and Experience:

Candidates must have completed an MM in music theory or composition and have a minimum of three years' teaching experience at the university level.


Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to candidates that have experience serving as an instructor of record, supervising other teachers, and developing and teaching online courses (synchronous or asynchronous).
