Primary Responsibilities:


SummaryFunction: Provides highly skilled office assistance for one academic department focused primarily on student retention initiatives including coordinating advising, organizing student focused high impact practices, purchasing and travel for classes and events, providing communication and media engagement for the department.DutiesEssential: Performs tasks using computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets and database, social media and website, student record software, and adobe suite; keeps various administrative, student, and financial records; handles and maintains confidential information; provides interdepartmental, student and public facing communication for the department, coordinates with the communication team and enrollment management on the design and implementation of promotional materials, compiles complex student reports which may include research, calculation, and composition, some of which may be reported to various grant entities; requisitions materials; organizes departmental travel and events including field trips and special programs, serves as a student service representative in the department, provides students and general public with information; may handle money. Responsible for personal safety and the safety of others; must exercise due caution and practice safe work habits at all times. Other duties as assigned.Non-Essential: Departmental duties as assigned.

SupervisionReceived: Department Chair; Broad instructions on policy and procedure; work occasionally reviewed by supervisor.Given: May supervise students and other classified employees.

Usual:Office conditions; standard hours (8-5, M-F), some nights and weekends. Position is Security Sensitive.
Any qualifications to be considered as equivalents, in lieu of stated minimums, require the prior approval of the Human Resources Director.Revised February 2023.
Texas Law requires a 60 day waiting period before new state employees are eligible to enroll in health insurance.
