Description:


We are seeking a post-doctoral fellow to join our lab which focuses on the mitochondrial function in cerebral microcirculation and brain.  The diseases we study are stroke, diabetes, aging, and Alzheimer's disease.  The position primarily involves independently performing experiments (data collection and analysis), composing manuscripts for publication, as well as for presentations.  Expertise in performing experiments utilizing lab animals and cell-cultures is critical.   Therefore, the applicant is expected to have a background in cerebrovascular sciences.   


The post-doctoral fellow will work as part of a team comprised of faculty, postdoctoral fellows, graduate, and undergraduate students. Proven expertise in rodent surgical techniques (including performing surgeries, handling, and monitoring rodents), and two-photon imaging are critical.     Knowledge and experience of breeding and maintaining genetically engineered mice colonies are required. The postdoctoral fellow will be utilize various techniques including: administering anesthesia and analgesics to animals, blood collection, animal tissue dissection/collection, confocal microscopy imaging, and free radical measurements. Preference will be given to applicants with proven experience in research in vascular biology/physiology.




Qualifications:


1. PhD or MD or equivalent degree with a strong background in cardiovascular biology.


2. Research experience in vascular and mitochondrial biology.


3. Experience in rodent surgeries.
