EPD is seeking a Switchgear and Controls Sales Support Manager to oversee the sales support teams while working with the engineering and manufacturing teams to identify opportunities to update quoting tools and documentation. The role will be focused on delivering profitable custom quotes as we expand our Controls Organization.

What you will do:

  • Managing staffing, development, and performance management programs for sales support teams; motivating and developing project and team leaders.
  • Providing specialized engineering technical support and consulting services for all sales teams within Caterpillar
  • Managing high-impact, short and long duration sales initiatives and projects; ensuring achievement of sales plan (order entry and variable margin targets)
  • Identifying opportunities for process improvements cascaded cross functionally
  • Working closely with outside sales team to properly support Caterpillar Dealer Network
  • Training internal teams and external partners on Distribution and Paralleling Switchgear
  • Potential to grow team globally to support expanding services

Degree Requirement
Bachelor's degree in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science



Planning: Tactical, Strategic: Knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years) and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the overall business plan.
Level Extensive Experience:
• Develops, refines, and communicates tactical plans for own responsibilities.
• Provides the right level of detail as input for strategic plan development.
• Demonstrates the value and necessity of linking tactical plans to overall strategic plan.
• Plans for allocation of resources in line with unit goals, technical and business objectives.



Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
Level Extensive Experience:
• Differentiates assumptions, perspectives, and historical frameworks.

Technical Excellence: Knowledge of power distribution switchgear and parallelling controls; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges. Understanding of UL and ANSI classifications.

• Engages appropriate subject matter resources to effectively resolve technical issues.
• Mentors others to enhance their technical competence and its application to achieve more effective technical solutions.

Customer/Market Focus: Experience or understanding working with dealer networks and customers across various business lines (Energy Storage Systems, Microgrids, Power Distribution, Switchgear, Complex Control Systems). Understanding of the importance of the shifting regulatory energy market.

• Responds proactively to market and competitive shifts so as to maintain advantage (pricing, lead times, product offerings)
