The UHealth system at the University of Miami has an exciting opportunity for a Per Diem Pharmacy Technician Trainee.



SUMMARY



This 16-week certificate program is designed to provide students with the basic skills and knowledge to begin a career as a pharmacy technician. The course work will fulfill the requirements of the Board of Pharmacy and prepare students for the state examination. The goal is for students to be able to pass the state examination to become a Registered Pharmacy Technician. They assist in the various activities of the department not requiring the professional judgment of the pharmacist. Such duties include but need not be limited to: packaging and labeling medication doses; filling medication orders, delivery of medication cassettes, refilling and inventorying automated dispensing machines, and maintaining inventories of medication supplies. Technicians' trainees must function in strict accordance with standard, written procedures and guidelines with deviation approved by the supervising pharmacist. Organizational relationships include being directly responsible to program coordinator, pharmacists, Assistant Director, and Director of Pharmacy.

Adhere to course syllabus and course manual Attend lectures as described in course syllabus Complete program with passing score as described in course syllabus Meet minimum of 160 hours of on-the-job training Under the guidance of assigned pharmacy technician and/or pharmacist: Accurately and safely prepares and packages unit dose medications Follows policies and procedures for storing, preparing, labeling, and distributing medications Work mathematical calculations accurately Accurately and efficiently fills and delivers medication carts in a timely manner Accurately returns medications to inventory that are returned from patient care areas Actively participates in inventory control management of medicinal agents and pharmaceutical supplies Accurately processes prescriptions Communicate all pertinent patient information to patients and providers as necessary in a timely manner and document such encounters Adhere to all local, State, Federal laws, rules and regulations Effectively supports management Completes work activities through effective management of time, tasks and available resources Manages own conduct, performance and attitude including time, space and paper; ethics; attendance and punctuality; and customer focus Performs other duties as assigned or scheduled
