What we are looking for:


We are seeking an Executive Advisor for GHD's Commercial Advisory group. This position will require experience in advising clients in a variety of environmental due diligence related Merger and Acquisition scenarios in the multi-million to multi-billion range (USD). This is Team Leader position that requires managing and mentoring a staff of subject matter experts, is based in the United States, and will continue to expand the current business.

This position requires utilizing managerial and technical expertise in a variety of environmental assessment disciplines to accomplish GHD and client goals. There is a preference for experience that includes in-house as well as consulting experience.



The requirements for this position include:

  • Must be fluent and knowledgeable of a variety of commercial and industrial manufacturing processes including various energy sectors, especially relative to knowledge of historical manufacturing and disposal practices prior to the promulgation of environmental regulations.
  • Must be trained and fluent in conducting, completing, and reviewing environmental assessments utilizing not only the ASTM International-based E1527, E1528, E2247, and E1903 standard practices, but similar standards utilized globally such as those used in Canada, Australia, and Europe. Experience in participation in the development of these standards with ASTM is preferred. Experience in the application of these ASTM standards outside of the US is needed to service the needs of multinational clients.
  • Must be fluent in environmental compliance-related assessments and audits for storm water, wastewater, hazardous and non-hazardous waste handling and disposal, air emission compliance, asbestos assessments and management, PCB compliance and assessment (TSCA), wetlands, natural resource damage claims, PCAs, RCRA, and CERCLA-related assessments and the requirements of health and safety assessments. Basic knowledge of State specific programs is needed such as in New Jersey, Connecticut, Nevada, and Michigan. A history of managing Superfund sites and participating in PRP committees is desired.
  • Must be able to identify and assess the significance of identified environmentally related impairments and compliance concerns in the context of merger, divestiture or acquisition scenarios and be able to estimate financial impacts of identified concerns in a variety of formats. Must understand the concepts of materiality in the context of M&A scenarios. Must be able to translate risks to risk-related summary tools such as red-flag reports and risk registers.
  • Experienced in coordinating and leading large efforts involving other similar consulting firms to achieve goals and meet deadlines on large, complex projects which may include the identification, cost of, and categorization of environmentally related risks to assist accruals and negotiations.
  • Must be able to confidently interact with GHD employees, team members as well as with attorneys, client SMEs, and C-Suite individuals, sometimes in adversarial situations. The ability to operate in confidential environments and scenarios is required. Must be able to assist clients with strategic advice, underwriter's calls, negotiations, and review of sales purchase agreements and reliance letters from time to time.
  • Must be able to travel on average 25% of the time both driving and flights.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills will be needed to develop and maintain relationships with internal and external clients.
  • Must have excellent writing skills and the ability to write and review technical reports.
  • 15+ years of experience in the field of environmental assessments
  • BS or Masters in a relevant science or engineering field is required. Must meet the qualifications of an Environmental Professional as defined by ASTM.
