Job Summary


This position will perform both administrative and clinical duties for the Nurse-Managed Health Center (NMHC). All clinic duties must adhere to the Health System (Wellstar MCG) Ambulatory Care Clinical Staff Task Guidelines under the direction/supervision NMHC FNP, RN or licensed provider.



Responsibilities


The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:



Patient Services



Perform patient care duties under the direction of a licensed Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Registered Nurse (RN) or licensed provider and in accordance with the Ambulatory Care Clinical Staff Task Guidelines.


Obtain medical records necessary for scheduled visit.


Record in Electronic Health Record (EHR); patient chief complaint, medical histories, current symptoms, vitals, test results, depression and fall screening, and other information relevant to patient visit.


Prepare room(s), equipment and patient for examination or treatment.


Assist with medical treatments, procedures, and exams.


Perform phlebotomy, collect and process specimen(s).


Administer limited profile of medications, vaccinations/immunizations as directed by NP and per approved policy.


Propose orders via Powerchart (advance radiology, and prescription refills only).


Distribute preapproved, preprinted educational materials.


Confirm specialty care and diagnostic referrals are processed timely and follow-up accordingly to ensure continuity of care.


Deliver compassionate support, attention, and assistance to patients and families.


Ensure compliance with all policies, regulations and procedures including HIPAA and OSHA.



Administrative Task



Provide cross-coverage for the NMHC front desk duties, to include but not limited to, receive and, schedule appointments, obtain/verify patient demographic, insurance information and prior authorization/precertification.


Transmit messages to/from provider using Powerchart and to/from patients via phone call and/or patient portal. Document all messages in EHR.


Perform quality assurance/calibration on Point of Care equipment and maintain refrigerator temperature log(s).


Maintain the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) binder.


Inventory and order medical and lab supplies and equipment.


Assist with quality improvement projects (i.e., patient throughput, chart audits).


Create/maintain CMA training material, workflow(s), process and procedures.


Other duties as assigned.



Required Qualifications



Educational Requirements



High school diploma, GED, or equivalent from a recognized state or federal accrediting organization.

CCMA-Certified Clinical Medical Assistant(CCMA) Credential


AAMA-American Association of Medical Assistant


MedCa'Medical Career Assessment


RMA/NCMA'Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) Credential/National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) Credential



Required Experience



A minimum of two years of experience in administrative and clinical support within an outpatient primary care setting.



Preferred Qualifications



Preferred Educational Qualifications



Associates Degree from an accredited college or university in Medical Assisting.



Preferred Experience



Experience with electronic medical record is preferred.

Shift/Salary/Benefits


Shift: Days/M-F


Pay Grade: 9


Salary: $15.00/hr - $16.20/hr


Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position
