Role description:

The Senior Management Consultant will act as a technical resource in the areas of water quality and water treatment and support our national Lead and Copper team in proactively providing regulatory guidance and technical direction for drinking water compliance.

Role accountabilities:

In this role, you will support national leaders in the implementation of Lead and Copper Rule Revisions (LCRR) / Lead and Copper Rule Improvements (LCRI) pursuit initiatives, projects and programs, including, but not limited, to services around service line inventories, lead service line replacing planning, sampling and monitoring, corrosion control treatment, public education and outreach, and data management.

Other responsibilities include:


  • Support funding and grant management efforts for various LCRR/LCRI initiatives.
  • Provide technical support on drinking water projects including but not limited to master planning, regulatory compliance, treatment selection and optimization, desktop, bench-scale, pilot-scale, and/or full-scale studies, and site investigations.
  • Apply water treatment engineering/chemistry/microbiology fundamentals to aid in:
  • Developing design criteria
  • Improving water treatment plant performance
  • Addressing water quality challenges
  • Conduct technical research surrounding alternative water quality and treatment systems and solutions.
  • Research, review, and analyze water quality policy and regulations.
  • Prepare project scope of services, work plans, budgets and schedules and delegation of work tasks.
  • Mentor and supervise junior staff while managing tasks of varying sizes and complexity.
  • Communicate technical information and/or provide technical training to colleagues and clients.
  • Provide technical support to marketing and client management teams for business development.
  • Regularly develop and submit abstracts for drinking water conferences; prepare and deliver presentations if abstracts are accepted.
  • Travel may be required for project visits, client meetings, or conferences.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications:


  • 5 years of relevant experience to include water quality, regulatory compliance, and LCRR.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Biology, or related degree.

Key Skills and Attributes:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with clients and regulatory agencies in the areas of Water Quality and LCRR/LCRI.
  • Prior experience in utilizing digital tools and data analysis to drive prioritization and decision-making.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple concurrent tasks.
  • Strong focus and attention to detail.
  • Strong critical thinking and reasoning skills.
  • Strong database management, data visualization skills, dashboard development, and data reporting experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 7 years of engineering experience focused on water quality, treatment, and regulatory compliance.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations related to drinking water compliance, specifically the Lead and Copper Rule
  • Active participation in Water Quality and LCRR/LCRI conferences/associations at the state and/or national level via committee memberships, presentations, and/or association leadership roles.
