Position Summary: The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Villanova University has an opening for a full-time non-tenure-track teaching faculty position. Candidates will be considered for an Assistant or Associate Teaching Professor rank commensurate with their education and experience. This is an academic year appointment, renewable subject to enrollment needs, availability of funding, and performance. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in mechanical engineering design. The appointment begins in August 2024.

Duties and Responsibilities: The responsibilities include serving as the primary instructor and course coordinator for our senior capstone design course sequence, teaching an exciting and relevant design-based class to accompany the capstone experience, enhancing the capstone design experience by attracting industry driven projects, teaching design-based classes, and working with other faculty to integrate design content throughout our curriculum. Other responsibilities include mentoring and advising undergraduate students, service to the department and college, and developing new pedagogical methods.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • A Ph.D. or MS in Mechanical Engineering (or closely related field) is preferred and practical design experience such as in industry or a national lab is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are a prerequisite.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous teaching experience is preferred.
