Job Description:


HIRING SALARY: $4,875 total stipend. Pay rate of $25 per hour. Breakdown: $875 for 35 hours of lesson planning prior to summer camp | $3,800 at the conclusion of four-week summer camp (June 3 - June 28, 2024) | $200 for one-day (8 hours) instructional training (May 2024).



HOURS: Report to work during four-week summer camp is Monday through Friday 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM; In Person on TCC campus. Sumer camp dates are June 3 - June 28, 2024.




MAJOR FUNCTIONS: This position will facilitate, encourage, and guide hands-on and virtual learning activities of Verizon VIL Program participants. The duties will be conducted in-person on TCC's main campus.



The Verizon Innovative Learning STEM Achievers Program was created to teach middle school students next-gen technology, STEM and entrepreneurship skills through hands-on, interactive instruction.


Verizon Innovative Learning instructor/teacher training is an opportunity to engage in powerful teaching and learning that leverages technology in and out of the classroom.




Responsibilities:




  • Promote a strong learning culture among all project participants.

  • Nurture student opportunities for leadership in technology and STEM.

  • Complete One-Day Instructional Curriculum Training in May 2024 (8 hours).

  • Provide instruction to students throughout the 4-week summer camp (June 3 - June 28, 2024).

  • Complete tasks within the VIL Canvas shell.

  • Perform Chaperone Duties at 4 Off-Site Field Trips during summer camp.



Instructor will be assigned and responsible for teaching one of the following areas:


Immersive Media - virtual reality; augmented reality; solve design challenges Digital Product Innovation - 2D and 3D design; 3D printing Smart Solutions - coding and electronic sensors; solve social challenges Artificial Intelligence + Robotics - program autonomous vehicles (drones)



  • Design Thinking principals must be infused in all 4 subject areas.





MINIMUM TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:




  • Middle school teaching experience (2 years or more).

  • Awareness and experience in the use of digital media for the integration of technology into the classroom.

  • Ability to address access and equity issues with a variety of individuals and groups.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:



  • Successful applicants will be able to teach and motivate students through hands-on projects.

  • Applicants must demonstrate effective interpersonal skills, engage in active listening, and encourage personalized learning.

  • Successful applicants will possess working knowledge of Windows operating system, MS Office, online learning platforms, and related desktop applications.

  • Applicants must take initiative to learn new technology (3D printing, new applications, etc).
