Job Description:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Kforce has a client that is seeking an experienced L3/Lead Linux Engineer in New York, NY.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Day to day support/administration and patching


• Collaborate with other departments to ensure timely delivery of fully tested and compatible devices that meet product requirements; Guidance and support enable optimal usage of Linux technology


• Create, maintain, and troubleshoot Linux instances across multiple networks and architectures


• Address issues reported by customers to ensure smooth operation

REQUIREMENTS:

• A typical Linux Engineer holds a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field


• CompTIA Linux+ certification or other relevant Linux certifications is nice to have, but not required


• 8+ years of experience supporting Open-Source Linux (CentOS, Rocky, RHEL -free)


• L3/Lead level experience (10+ years) as a Linux engineer


• Strong experience in automating things (thinking outside of the box); Should be a senior engineer or team lead who can contribute to strategy around their technology area


• Experience with Perl, Bash, or other standard scripting languages


• Experience in deploying, configuring, and managing/supporting Linux-based systems in a business environment


• Open minded/curious or experienced with automation via scripting (moving away for legacy mindsets around things not getting updated)


• Strong scripting and computing skills are essential


• Proficiency in programming languages and working with cloud systems is valuable


• Experience with Ansible is nice to have

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
